Sephora Haul Part 2

Alright dolls, part 2 of my Sephora haul. Lot's of make-up in this one!

Some of these items were in yesterday's post. I'm LOVING the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. It has a great texture and it's a pretty decent size jar for the price. $42. Compared to the other moisturizers I was looking at, it was the most bang for the buck. I have been using a sample of the Urban Decay eye shadow primer and my eyeshadow is still intact after a workout. I typically take it off (I'm not the girl that wears make-up to the gym) but I wanted to test it. So, I decided I needed to add it to my collection!

My mom has been using the Smashbox Brow Tech trio for quite a while. I finally had the chance to try it and I couldn't believe the change in my eyebrows. It's a miracle product ladies!!  I bought the dark brown because my hair is so dark. But, it comes in 4 color options. The wax is my favorite part I think! I purchased the Sephora classic brow brush for $10. It's perfect! Of course I stocked up on my favorite eyeliner too!

I picked up two new Urban Decay eye shadows to go with my Naked 2 palette and my Mac Blackberry eye shadow. The color on the left is Naked and the middle one is Bust.

Naked is great for all over the lid. I use Blackberry in the crease and blend with Bust. I also like to add some of the colors from my Naked 2 palette.

I took this before I bought Bust but I love how the other two coordinate well with the palette. I've only used my Blackberry a few times because I'm not a huge fan of the texture. After some discussion, I think I have a bad pot of it. It's not smooth and doesn't blend well so I'm going to try to return it. You can see on my hand that it doesn't apply evenly. I'm a HUGE fan of the Urban Decay pots though. They don't test on animals and several of them are vegan.

Well there ya have it ladies. Did any of you take advantage of the sale? I made sure to stock up on things I knew I would be needing because I could get a discount.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Sephora Chic Week Haul Part 1

I'm way behind because of my hiatus but I want to share the products I purchased during the Sephora Chic Week 15% off sale. I'm going to break it up into two parts so it's not a an overload. I mean I did go to the sale on two different occasions. I have a problem!

I have mentioned Benefit's It's Potent eye cream before. It is my absolute favorite eye cream right now. The small jar lasts a really long time. I've learned to be picky about the packaging of my eye cream and moisturizers. So many of them run out and you have no idea because it's a pump or you can't see how much is left in the container. I tend to venture towards jars so I can scrape them clean!

I blogged about Glam Glow here

I had tested the black container - the tingling mask - but they were completely sold out of it and didn't expect to get anymore in before the sale was over. So, after talking to the lovely sales woman I decided to get the white container. This can be used as a spot treatment which was a selling point for me. The only real difference was the tingling effect...which I loved...but I can get past it. I have used it three times since I've purchased it and I love it.

I had help while taking photos. It was quite the fiasco. Thanks little man!

I used my 250 point reward on this bronzing lotion by St. Tropez. I have to say that I really like it. I wore it with a skirt and felt like it definitely gave me a little color without rubbing off on my clothes. I might consider buying a large bottle when this is gone.

These might be my two favorite purchases! I'm obsessed with my Nars Roman Holiday lipstick and Buxom Pink Lady Big & Healthy Lip Cream. The lip cream gives a nice plumping and tingling effect which I LOVE.

Lipstick on the top and lip gloss on the bottom. I think they compliment each other well.

I can't believe I'm actually posting a picture like this but this is the lipstick. I love how moisturizing it is. It doesn't make my lips feel dry. I've had a horrible time with chapped lips this Winter so I need something moisturizing.

And this is with the lip gloss on top. It didn't really change the color but gives a little extra shine. I'm really happy with the purchases.

If you read my last post, I mentioned purchasing a new car. I did it! I'm so happy with my Subaru Forester. I ended up with a 2010 but it only has 27,000 miles on it and it looks brand new. So, I'm very happy! I'm adjusting to my new ride but I love it!

Happy Monday Ladies!!

I'm a bit pre-occupied...

Ladies, I've been MIA. My apologies! Work life has been chaotic the past 2 weeks. I have so much I want to blog about but I haven't had a free minute to edit any photos. I took full advantage of the Sephora 15% off Chic Week event and I know you're dying to know what I got! :)

I'm hoping to get some photos up tomorrow for WIWW. But, I'm possibly purchasing this tonight.

It all depends on if they give me what I want. I didn't intend to buy a car until late Summer/early Fall but I think it might be happening now. It's a good deal that I can't pass up. So, depending on how late I'm at the dealership tonight, you may or may not get a post from me tomorrow.

I promise to get back to my regular blogging. I haven't had time to read anyone's blogs either. Ugh...my busy season is approaching and my already dreading it.

A quick life update, I ran a 5k on Sunday. 35:17 with some walking because I'm not up to running the full thing yet. Plus, it was incredibly hilly and windy. So, I feel good about the time. I'm ready to get down to below 30. I had actually planned to blog on Tuesday last week but after the events in Boston on Monday, it just didn't feel right. I couldn't talk about make up and clothes and feel okay about it. The rest of the week was consumed by the coverage of the Boston bombings and the explosion in Texas. Such a rough week for so many people.

I'm vowing to you that you will get at least one more post out of me this week. If you want to keep up with me in the mean time, check twitter and instagram. I'm around!! :)

GLAMGLOW Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask

Let's talk GLAMGLOW, shall we?! If you remember I did a post a while back about the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask. I liked it but wanted to try the GLAMGLOW mask that I've been hearing about for months. Well during my last big shopping excursion with Jenn, I found a small sample of it at Sephora. SCORE. It was $19 but $19 well spent!

There are two different versions of this mask. The black container is the tingling and exfoliating mud mask and the white container is the super-mud clearing treatment. There was a rep in Sephora which was super helpful. She said, some people don't like the tingling effect and it can be irritating to someone with sensitive skin. I don't fall into that category so I went for it. I actually like the tingling sensation...it makes me think it's really working. I can see how it would irritate some skin though.

You apply the mask and let it dry completely before washing it off. If you decide to try the tingling and exfoliating mask but the tingling gets to be too much, you can wash it off early. This has actual pieces of green tea leaves in it. Yep, I walk around with chunks of stuff on my face. The things we do for beauty! :)

I have been doing the mask on Sundays for the past couple of weeks. I can honestly say my skin has never looked better. The combination of this mask and washing my face twice daily with my Clarisonic has really improved my skin. I still have large pores but at least I feel like they are staying clean. When the mask dries you can see all of the stuff it has pulled out of your pores. I'll spare you a picture but will say my nose always looks a mess.

If I had to choose between this and the Boscia mask, I would choose GLAMGLOW in a heartbeat. The downfall to the Boscia mask was peeling it off. I don't really like that. Now, the price tag on this little gem hurts a bit. $69. However, Sephora's VIB event starts today and you get 15% off. So, my mom and I have planned a little trip to Sephora this weekend and I plan to buy the mask and a few other pricey items that I will be needing soon.

Have any of you tried this mask? What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from someone that tried the super-mud clearing treatment.

Have a great Thursday Dolls! I will be spending my afternoon in a computer lab proctoring/reading. :)

It's finally warm!!

Ladies, it was 84 degrees when I got in my car yesterday after work. 84. This excites me to no end. I love the warm weather. It appears that Ohio has skipped Spring and gone straight to Summer but I don't hate it! I think my tights are gone for the season and I'm thrilled!! Here are a couple of the outfits I put together this week.

I have been dying to wear this white top from Express. Unfortunately, I've had trouble finding it online. I found one but it didn't have the lace detail on the back. Which is pretty much why I bought it. And yes, I'm wearing my Hue leggings in both of these outfits. What can I say...obsessed!

Top: Express (similar)
Cardigan: J Crew Jackie
Booties: Gianni Bini
Necklace: J Crew Factory
Watch: Michael Kors

Tank: Target (old)
Cardigan: New York and Co. (old)
Pants: Hue Denim Leggings
Shoes: Aldo
Necklace: Gift from my Dad
Watch: Michael Kors
Bracelets: Handmade, Forever 21, Marc Jacobs

I'm so thankful that I wore this outfit yesterday. I was proctoring all afternoon and my room was nearly 80 degrees despite the heat being turned off and AC on. Miserable. I felt so bad for my students. It's another 80 degree day today so I'm wearing a skirt...sans tights. I couldn't be happier!

Side Note: Remember this watch? Well, one of the stones was coming out of it so I had to return it and they are sending me a new one. I'm super bummed because I want to be wearing it now!

Linking up again today!!

My New Favorite Pants

I'm kind of obsessed with these pants. I wore them in every photo in this post. I'll be the first to admit that I kind of judged them at first. But, then I tried them on and my life changed.

I'm talking about my Hue Denim Leggings. I have them in Black, Gray and Teal.

Shirt: Forever 21 (old); Cardigan: J Crew Jackie; Tank: Forever 21; Necklace: J Crew Factory Store

They have real pockets on the back so they totally look like jeans. I've been wearing them to work like crazy. When I start working out after taking time off my thighs blow up and none of my pants fit...this is my current situation. So, elastic waist/stretchy pants are my savior.

I tell everyone I encounter about Hue Denim Leggings. A woman at Target commented on them and I told her all about them. I should be their spokesperson! You can find them at Macy's and Dillard's. The leggings are $39 but Dillard's and Macy's both run them on sale for 25% pretty often. Jenn has the mustard color and I think I need them!

Ladies, I recommend that you try them on. Just give them a try and you will fall in love!

Have a great Tuesday!

I want to think everyone that entered my giveaway. I had a lot of fun putting it together and picking the items that I would include.

The winner was chosen with Random.org.

That would be you JES at Bleu Dress and Dress Blues!!! Jes is currently stationed in Japan with her husband and I know how much she appreciates any little piece of America! Maybe I'll try to throw some Cincinnati staples in the package too. I'm so happy you won and you will have to let me know what you think of everything!

Send me an email at lindsey(dot)allison(dot)05(at)gmail(dot)com.

Alright Ladies, I would love to give you an exciting post but it's Sunday, my allergies are killing me and I REALLY REALLY REALLY need to get my butt outside for a walk because my legs are dead after yesterday's workout. First, I need to watch the end of this Reds game!

I will leave you with this. Jenn sent it to me on Saturday after my killer workout. Love it!

Have a great Monday Ladies!

Friday Letters

Dear NCAA Basketball: You are still giving me an excuse to do nothing on a Saturday night. Thanks for that. What will I do when you end on Monday?

Dear MLB TV: You are on my list. I tried to listen to the Reds game at work yesterday but you were trying to make me buy the audio package for $19.99 because it was a televised game. All I wanted was to hear Marty call the game but because of your rules the 700 WLW website wouldn't play it. And yes, I tweeted 700 WLW and the Reds about this. I was that mad but I got a response. Hence this letter.

Dear Michael Kors / Dillard's: Well Dillard's, your watch trade in program was not good for me or my wallet. I'm on a budget but managed to come home with this...

The Parker Mid-Size Rose Gold and Tortoise watch needed to be in my collection. Technically, my first pay check of the month is today so I didn't really mess up my budget, did I? I'm still able to pay what I had planned to pay this month so I think I'm ok. :) At least I was able to resist that beautiful MK bag.

Dear Braxton: I hope you enjoy your new black and silver collar, even if Uncle Ty says you look feminine. This coming from the guy that likes to take my expensive moisturizer. Seriously, don't listen to him. You look very handsome.

Dear Work: It was a rough week. Students are sucking the life out of me with their neediness and attitudes. You.Are.Adults. Pull it together and stop acting like children. (I work with medical students, in case you are wondering!) You and I will need to part ways for a vacation very soon or I might lose my mind!

I hope you all have fabulous weekend and don't forget to check out my giveaway!

Acrylic Makeup Drawers

I know you've all seen them. We all want them. Acrylic makeup drawers are all the rage. But, they will kill your wallet. Why are clear drawers so expensive?? I need someone to explain this to me.

The culprit. They suck us in with their beautiful organization and the fact that you can actually see all of your products. It's a gorgeous thing. Then, you start searching them and find this on Amazon. $140...you're kidding me right? We're talking about drawers that will without a doubt get covered in makeup.

I have made it my mission to find a cheap alternative because my makeup bag will not close and I need some help. I have found a few here and there but they seem really small. I need large drawers because I have some bulky items. Oh and I have to put all of my brushes away because my cat is a hoarder and I don't need my $30 brush disappearing only to be found a week later under the couch covered in god knows what. No thanks. All products/brushes must be sealed and out of Braxton's reach. (Side note: I watched that little bugger reach into my purse, pull out a piece of paper with his teeth and run off with it. This is what I'm dealing with.)

Yesterday, I was browsing stalking Instagram and came across this picture from Emily Maynard.

She did this post on her blog about makeup organization. I kind of freaked out...while at work. Immediately, I got on The Container Store website to check out her solution. Girl doesn't want to spend hundreds on drawers either and I have nothing but respect for that.

She uses shoe organizers from The Container Store. FREAKING GENIUS. I would like it to be known that I told Jenn during our shopping extravaganza that I wanted to check out The Container Store for this exact reason. But, we were exhausted and my brain/OCD tendencies could not handle all of that organization after such a long day. Now I'm kicking myself. The larger drawers are $12.99 and the smaller ones are $7.99. Oh and you can buy dividers for the larger boxes. Love it. The shipping is a little high. So, I'm thinking when we plan our Ikea trip we will be heading a little further south so I can pick up a few of these!

What are your thoughts, Ladies? Have you found a cheap alternative to the acrylic drawers or did you bite the bullet and buy some? I have to admit in the midst of my frustration I almost ordered some. Almost. But, I came to my senses. I'm on a budget now! No splurging on makeup drawers.

Don't forget to check out my giveaway! You can put the products in your new makeup drawers! :)

Kate Spade. Marc Jacobs. Michael Kors. Oh My.

I spoiled myself this weekend. Before we get to the really exciting stuff, let's start with my first stop. The J Crew Factory store. The entire store was 50% off. I had to restrain myself.

I cannot wait to wear this skirt. I really cannot wait to wear it WITHOUT tights. That will make me really happy! There are so many colors in the tweed so it will be very versatile.

I fell in love with this sweater. It's really thin so I will be able to wear it all Spring and maybe even during chilly nights this Summer. I have a pair of purple J Crew shorts that are dying to be paired with it!

I think this speaks for itself. I will probably wear this necklace every day. be prepared to see it a lot. The sales woman had it on and she told me I would wear it a lot. I agree!

I had planned to get this Marc Jacobs cross body bag. That is until I saw this at the MK Outlet. The length was good and it's really roomy. I used it Saturday night, I had a mini wallet, cell phone, car keys, 3 lip glosses (don't judge me) and there was room to spare! I had so many earrings I was looking into buying but when I saw the Kate Spade "know the ropes" earrings I knew they were the ones. We parked at Nordstrom so on the way out when I was considering a pair of Cole Haan flats and passed; we stopped in the jewelry/handbag section again. I came across the Marc Jacobs bracelet and I knew it was over. I put it on and it fit perfectly. THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ME. My wrist is the size of a 3rd graders. It's awful. The girl that sold me my earrings came over and somehow between her and Jenn, I was convinced I needed it. In all seriousness, I will probably wear it at least 3 times a week because I wear my other black and gold bracelet...A LOT. I kind of want more of them. During the last Nordstrom sale, I had one in my cart but I didn't want to bite the bullet without trying it on. Now, I know it fits so I can see another one of them joining my collection!

I also bought this shirt at Express. I couldn't save the photo from the website but you'll see me wearing it in tomorrow's post. Or, if you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen it!

I had to go to Walmart to buy more hangers...yes I have a problem when I need several different kinds of hangers. I found another great Walmart scarf...$4!!!

Loving this!! So those are my purchases this weekend! I ended the day with blisters on my feet and I was so exhausted that I became delirious. It was crazy but great fun! Jenn and I always have an adventure when we get together.

Don't forget to check out my giveaway! Have a great Tuesday!!
