Friday Letters

Dear Braxton: You're really cute. I mean seriously...look at that face.

But, I do not appreciate it when you destroy my stuff. Exhibit A.

You chewed my headband in half. Your mother is not a fan of this behavior. Also, you aren't a dog...why do you chew things?

Dear 3 Day Weekends: You need to happen every week. I have been in a good mood almost all week because of this.

Dear NCAA March Madness: I never want you to end...EVER. It's my favorite time of the year. Also, you are the perfect reason to sit at a sports bar all afternoon/evening on a Saturday while eating greasy food and drinking adult beverages. (I don't do beer...so there will be liquor consumed Saturday. Possibly large amounts. Sorry, I'm not sorry.)

Dear Jenn: Today's shopping excursion should be amazing. We have the best adventures. I'm glad this one doesn't involve a snow storm or me ending up in a ditch! :)

Dear Spring: You can grace us with your presence anytime now. 40 degrees is for the birds. I have a cute pair of purple J Crew shorts that are dying to be pulled out of my drawer. Also, my legs are sick of being covered with tights and boots. My legs want to be bare and my toes want to see the sunlight. Get it together Mother Nature.

Have a great weekend Dolls! Remember there's going to be a GIVEAWAY on Monday!!!!

3 Day Work Weeks = My Favorite

The title speaks for itself. Today is my Friday...I'm stoked. Bestie Jenn and I are going shopping tomorrow. I'm finally going to get those earrings I talked about here. We'll see what I end up with! I'm putting myself on a pretty strict budget starting April 1st. After my snow incident on Monday, I've decided I need a new car before next Winter so it's time to start saving! I've decided to splurge on one other item during the shopping trip. I have been wanting a small cross body bag and I think I have it picked out.

I think it's time I get my first Marc Jacobs bag. The reason I've waited so long to buy one is I have Short Girl Problems. Some of the bags tend to be too long and then bounce off of my hip like crazy when I walk. This Marc Jacobs 'Pretty Nylon - Mini Natasha' cross body bag is adjustable (which many of them are) and can actually be shortened enough. It's bad when you determine what bag you get based on the length of the strap! I didn't think I would like nylon but I think I actually like it more.

Those of you that know me well or know me IRL, know that I really really really want this.

Michael Kors. Nautical Stripes. Tote. Gold Hardware. LOVE. But, I don't think I'll be purchasing it. I can admire it though. The MK store will be DANGEROUS. I should probably avoid it.

I really wanted a cute MK cross body but I look like a child carrying her mom's bag. It's not a good look.

Ladies, my first giveaway will be Monday so you should definitely check back in! I have everything purchased and I'm super excited to show you the goodies I'm going to giveaway.

Have a great Thursday!!

WIWW - Spring Colors

I just have one Instagram collage from last week to show you. I figure after the last huge photo dump this will be a nice change of pace.

Shirt: J Crew
Pants: New York and Co.
Boots: Bandalino
Necklace: Craft Show
Bracelets: Handmade and Forever 21

The bracelet on the far right is so old, I have no idea where it's from. I found it when I re-organized my jewelry. I have scoured the J Crew website trying desperately to find this shirt but sadly it does not exist. I ordered the shirt 2 weeks ago during the 30% off sale items deal and I'm kind of obsessed with it. The color description was neon lavender (I think). The neon part scared me a bit but it is actually the perfect pop of Spring color. It's still dreary in Ohio. We had like 6 inches of snow on Monday so it's hard to believe it's actually Spring. However, I'm beyond ready for warmer days.

I have put together some great outfits so far this week but haven't had a chance to edit all of the photos so you'll get them next week!

Tomorrow is my Friday. I think every week should be a 3 day week. That's so random but I had to share! Have a great day Ladies!! I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy again today.

Beauty Blender = Happiness

A quick check in today. I should have posted yesterday because I had a snow day but I chose to watch the entire final season of Weeds. Do Not Judge Me! I went shopping this weekend and here are a few of the things I picked up. If you follow me on Instagram you have seen a few of these.

I found these Gianni Bini heels on the sale rack at Dillard's. I'm kind of in love with them and they were $31. I'm wearing them tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it!

I finally got a Beauty Blender! It was love at first sight! They are now being sold at Sephora. I looked around for it and couldn't find it anywhere. I asked someone and there was one left behind the counter so I snatched it up really quickly! I also found this beautiful Mac Eyeshadow in Blackberry. I have a lot of shimmer colors but I needed some matte to offset it. I find that browns and dark purples look great on me. I'm wearing it today with Tease from my Naked 2 Palette. This is my first Mac product. Is that insane? Considering how much make-up I have, I find it shocking that I have never purchased anything from Mac.

I bought these Sperry's weeks ago. Honestly, I thought I posted about them but I couldn't find it anywhere. Strange! But, I'm in love with them. They are soft leather unlike regular Sperry's. I bought them at Macy's. While at Dillard's I saw these....

Now I think I need another pair. What is wrong with me? They are mint colored though!!

Ok, Ladies...that's my quick check in today. I'm back to work and so so so busy! I'm grateful for the snow day because there was no way I could drive in yesterday. I spun out on Sunday evening and ended up in a ditch. It was terrifying. I'm fine and so is the car but it scared me. I wasn't really wanting to drive during our late March snow storm yesterday!

Crispy Quinoa Bake

I pinned this Crispy Quinoa Bake a couple of weeks ago and I'm obsessed with it. So delicious!!

It has black beans, tomatoes, green chiles, corn, green pepper, onion, zucchini, chicken stock, quinoa and monterey jack cheese. All good things! My brother wanted to know why there wasn't any chicken in it. Silly boy!! I followed the recipe exactly but it could easily be adapted to different flavors. I think you could make it italian based too. I had this for lunch twice this week. It's filling and healthy so that makes me happy!

I definitely recommend trying this yummy and easy recipe. It makes a TON. I think you could freeze part of it and it would still be great.

I'm linking up with Katie @ Keep Calm And Carry On and Steph @ Beautiful Mess today.

I'm at home with a migraine today. :( I've been suffering from a headache since Friday and it has finally become a full blown migraine. I will be in migraine med induced coma by the time you read this!

Clarisonic Mia

I was going to tell you about my recent J Crew purchases but I realized I have not reviewed my Clarisonic Mia that I mentioned here.

I have been using this little beauty for several weeks. I knew I was a fan pretty early on but I wanted to use it for a few weeks before reviewing. You don't realize how much you love this thing until you forget to charge it and it's dead when you try to use it. This happened to me last night. DEVASTATION. I had intended to charge it while I was at work. Oops!

Initially, I felt that I had more very small minor breakouts when using the Mia. Honestly, I have a feeling it was just pulling all of that crap to the surface because I have seen a change in the past week or so. I still have a couple minor blemishes but nothing that isn't manageable. My skin glows after using the Mia...I mean my nose is shining! I don't think I have ever experienced a clean like this gives me. I'm so happy I finally took the plunge and purchased this.

I'm still using the bareMinerals Purifying Facial Cleanser. The bottle is pretty large. I use it twice a day and I have barely put a dent in it. I like it but I think I might try something different next time. The lovely girl at Sephora also suggested the Ole Henriksen On The Go cleanser. I think I might give it a shot. Really, any gel or foaming cleanser will work.

I went back and forth about the Mia verses Mia 2. After using it, I don't think I would have utilized a second speed. So, I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money. The timer on the Mia is 1 minute. The breakdown is 20 seconds on your forehead, 20 seconds on your nose/chin and 10 seconds for each cheek. It took me a few times to get the timing down so I had to start it up again, but I have a rhythm with it now. The brush head should be replaced every 3 months. I recently found a double pack of replacement heads on Amazon for $32 (one head is typically $25). I recommend reading the reviews on the items though. I saw one that received poor reviews because they weren't authentic Clarisonic brush heads. I think the 3 for $25 price was a clear indicator that it couldn't be legit. Do you research ladies!!

If you are on the fence about purchasing a Clarisonic Mia, do it. You won't regret it. I promise! For any of the guys out there, if you want to buy a nice gift for your lady...  I'm just saying, I would be over the moon if I got one of these as a gift!!

The opinions in this review are all mine. I was not compensated for this review, I just really LOVE the product!

Have a great Wednesday Ladies!!

DSLR Cameras...I need help!

I'm reaching out to my lovely readers for some feedback. I'm ready to to dive into the world of DSLR cameras. I really have no idea what I should get. I've done some research but I think getting feedback from people that actually use them will help me more than anything.

I want something entry level. I don't need anything too advanced. I've never used a camera like this so I don't want to overwhelm myself. I need it to be somewhat easy to use. I will mainly use it for blog purposes but obviously, it will be my go to camera for family gatherings, snapping too many pics of Braxton and things of that nature. I like my point and shoot and I can continue to use that for wild nights out with my friends! :)

Here are a few that I have looked at but again, I'm open to suggestions!

Canon - EOS Rebel T3i

Nikon D3100

Nikon D5100

Ok, so Canon or Nikon?? Is this a personal preference like Mac or PC...or is one brand actually better than the other?

What do you use?

I know this is a super boring post and I promise to be back tomorrow with something more exciting, like my recent J Crew purchases. Seriously though, your feedback is much appreciated!!

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

Affordable Jewelry Box

I have been putting off buying a new jewelry box for quite a while. After nearly losing my mind last week because I was digging through little boxes attempting to find a necklace, I knew there was no way I could avoid this any longer. I picked up a few things far more than I needed from Target on Friday and stumbled upon this jewelry box. It retails for $40.00. It is actually quite heavy. I noticed one of the others on the shelf had a few nicks in it, so if you buy this keep an eye out for that. I really wanted the mirrored one but knew it was too small so I passed.

The lid doesn't stay open very well. So, I'll probably just hold it open but honestly that's not a deal breaker for me. There are no slots for rings but I have a lot of stackable rings from Forever 21. Just tossing them in their own little corner works fine for me.

As you can see each drawer has different sized compartments.

The bigger necklaces got the bottom drawer. I could probably squeeze a little more in here but I don't want to over crowd it. My dad made me a wall mounted necklace holder years ago and I keep most of my bulky necklaces on that and the more delicate things go in the jewelry box.

I opted to keep my favorite watches in their boxes as well as my pearls. I had to save some room. That box is full already!

As you can see, this dish is full of my plastic/acrylic bracelets as well as some of my handmade pieces. The running watch doesn't rank high enough in my book to get a spot in the new jewelry box. In case you're wondering, I got this dish in Mexico years ago and I absolutely love it. It's so cute and the bright colors make me smile!

Let's quickly discuss Google Reader being dunzo. I know every blogger in the blogosphere has addressed this but I want my lovely readers to know that I am on Bloglovin'. If you will be transitioning over to Bloglovin', feel free to click the little "b" icon under my picture/info and it will take you there.

Happy Monday Dolls! I hope you all had a great weekend and let's kick this week off on the right foot. :)

Friday Letters - Blogiversary

Happy Friday Ladies!

Dear Blog: Tomorrow will be two years together. 2 YEARS!!! That doesn't seem possible. I see some great things in our future. Hopefully, that will include a new camera...sooner rather than later. I started this blog as an outlet for myself. I never knew I would meet so many amazing ladies in the process. Which brings me to...

Dear Blog Friends: I've never met most of you IRL but I feel like we're besties. You give me advice when I need it. We are twitter/instagram bffs. We share our love of make-up, fashion, cooking, working out, the list goes on and on. You even think my little bugger Braxton is the cutest. I mean, he is the cutest so that is no surprise!

Dear My Fellow College Basketball Fans: Selection Sunday is a couple of days away. Which means I'm about to turn into a crazy obsessed basketball fan for the next several weeks. If you're new here...brace yourself. Last year, my BOBCATS made it to the Sweet Sixteen and I went nuts. It was amazing! This season has been a roller coaster ride so anything could happen during the tournament.

Dear My Followers: As a thank you and an anniversary celebration, I'm going to do my first giveaway for my 400th post. (This is post 391.) I'm going to compile a collection of some of my favorite beauty products. I need to get busy! So, stay tuned for that. Basically, I'm going to go nuts in Sephora and I can't wait.

I feel like I have to have a picture of something....

My name is Braxton and I sleep sitting up like I'm a human. Ridiculous.

Have a great weekend Ladies! I hope you have exciting plans. My plans are to watch basketball all weekend...this may not be exciting for some but I'm thrilled!

Have a great Wednesday Dolls!!

So Many Earrings, So Little Time

I have been trying to decide what earrings I would like to buy with my tax return. I like to buy myself something nice with my return then I try to save the rest. One of the things I would like to get is a nice pair of earrings. I just pulled all of these from my Nordstrom "Wish List". The Nordstrom app is dangerous. I browse it too often!

Each picture links back to Nordstrom's website.

These are by House of Harlow. Honestly, they are a little larger than I'd like but the star burst in the center really won me over.

Kate Spade 'Skinny Mini' Bows are so adorable. I was torn between the white and the mint. I mean I could have every color and be ok with it!

I love the simplicity of a pair of gold heart studs. I bought these for Jenn for her birthday. I love them too. You can't go wrong with a pair of simple Marc Jacobs studs!

I was attracted to the color of these Marc Jacobs studs. Light Rose/Antique Gold...perfection!

I am OBSESSED with Tory Burch.  I kind of want to be her. These plain TB studs are the equivalent to the Marc Jacobs hearts above, IMO. A classic statement.

The Tory Burch Logo Studs give a little pop of color. I love purple and tend have a lot of it or at least complimentary colors in my wardrobe so I think they would get a lot of use!

Last but certainly not least, the Tory Burch 'Brody' Logo Studs. I think these are my favorite. I can't get enough gold and tortoise.

I'm really leaning towards the Tory Burch gold logo and the gold/tortoise logo. But, I want to know what my blog ladies think! I'm open to other suggestions as well. I have a feeling my plans will go out the window when I actually make it to Nordstrom to pick them out (it will be a couple of weeks). It's nice to have a plan though.

It's probably a good thing that I don't have time to go shopping right now. I'm super stressed at work and I could easily do A LOT of damage without really thinking about it. I need some time to cool off before I go on this trip! Retail therapy is great therapy though...as long as you don't suffer from buyer's remorse. :)

Have a great Tuesday Ladies!!
