Auburn = Fail

I did something. I had high hopes and honestly I still think it would look great but it MAJORLY failed. I decided to change the color of hair. Honestly, I have wanted to do this since before my surgery in March but I just got around to it. It's awful Ladies!

This is what I was going for...

Cute, right?! I have natural red tones in my hair so this isn't a crazy thing for me to do. I tend to just keep my hair dark though. I mean it's pretty much black after I color it. So, we do the color and all is great. I'm terrified because it's intense but I'm sure it will be fine. My mom rinses it out for me and washes it then says..."your scalp is a little stained you need to scrub that a little more when you get in the shower." Ok, no big deal right?! Hair color stains me. I have to put vaseline around my hair line because I'll end up with black smudges for days. My coarse nappy hair doesn't like to get rid of the color so I have to wash it twice to get it all out. Once in the sink with my mom's help then again in the shower.

I take the towel off my head to find this...

That's orange folks. Oh and my hair looks brown...WTF!?!?!? I try not to panic. So, it gets washed and conditioned 2 more times in the shower. I'm exhausted from scrubbing it at this point. I blow it dry and it's still brown.

Now I'm pissed. I mean I'm legitimately mad. I could maybe maybe handle the stained scalp if my hair was the color it was supposed to be.

This happened on Sunday night. So, I went to work like this yesterday. My hair is in a ponytail with a thick headband around my hairline. I look like a clown. I'm hoping to color it back tomorrow. If I try to color it when my hair hasn't been flat ironed it gets unbearable. Seriously, so hard to manage. I did it once and I will never do it again. I was ready to cut my hair off because there so many knots. It's not normal. Looks like I'm flat ironing my hair tomorrow morning so I can color it back tomorrow night.

Lesson learned. If I want to change the color of my hair I will have to go to the salon. This is not a good look! I think my hair was just too dark and I would have to strip it before changing the color. Thankfully, I have plenty of time to fix this before the wedding! I'm just mad that I wasted all of that time and energy for no reason. There are little glimpses of red in my hair when the light hits it just right. But, not enough to justify leaving my head like this!

Worst blogger award goes to...

I'm sucking lately. Seriously. I haven't even had time to read your blogs which really upsets me. I miss checking in on my favorite ladies every day. I'm hoping next week will be better. I have plans to do some posts this weekend so I can have things lined up next week in case it gets too crazy. Which it probably will. The new academic year starts and that means I'm running around like a mad woman!

I plan to shop for some Bachelorette Party supplies this weekend. So, there could be a very interesting post coming your way and I need a Sephora trip. I'm low on my concealer and I mean seriously scraping the corners to get more. Plus, I have a 10% off coupon!! That's just dangerous!

The main reason for this post is to recognize an incredibly amazing lady that gave me a shout out on her blog yesterday and without a doubt made my day! Emily over at Becoming the Wilmi is incredibly sweet and you can find great recipes, organization tips and wedding tips on her blog. I'm going to return the favor and tell all of my seriously amazing followers to check her out. She deserves some love in return for giving me some love!

Ok Dolls, I know this was another short, photo-less post but it will get better. Hang in there with me! I hope you all have an incredible weekend!

A few thoughts

I  took a few days off...in case you didn't notice! I've been sitting behind my computer for hours on end so spending some quality time with the old bloggy just wasn't in the cards for me. There is so much I want to discuss. Let's just do a number post. Otherwise this would be the most random post of all time.

1. The Bachelorette. Emily and Jef look so happy together. I was shocked that she didn't even go on a date with Arie. I'm an Arie fan. I've liked him from day one and I feel bad for the guy. However, Emily and Jef were pretty much giddy on the ATFR. If you want entertainment, check out Ashley Spivey's blog Say No To Cosmo. The fact that she calls Chris "crazy baby eagle face" is reason enough to check it out.

2. Bachelor Pad. Ok, Ed...I think we need to be besties. He was out of control! "I need heat! This isn't a hot tub, it's a cold tub!" Hey Ed, call me...I think we would get along fabulously! Oh and another season of watching Michael Stagliano. Yes, Please! I kind of love him. I'm not ashamed.

3. I have discussed my love for The Hunger Games. Well, there has been a name thrown out for Finnick's character. Now this is just a rumor but I'm not happy about it. This is not what I pictured! Sam Claflin. Please sound off in my comments. I picture a greek god like man throwing a trident. This Sam character does not give me that feeling. However, Jena Malone has been cast as Johanna and I'm totally ok with that one.

4. I'm going to Athens next weekend and it cannot come soon enough. I need to indulge in cheap drinks and yummy food with a few of my best friends. I'm in desperate need of a few days off and that won't happen for quite some time so this little one night getaway will have to hold me over. I plan to channel my college self. You'll probably be able to find me stumbling down Court St., holding hands with my besties while simultaneously eating a slice of Goodfellas pizza or O'Betty's chili cheese fries.

5. I got my BM dress. It's too tight. Not kidding. I knew this was possible. So, I'm in full blown healthy food consumption 24/7 until the wedding. The dress isn't too small but it's definitely tight. Ugh! I might have to start pulling two a day workouts! I'm confident I'll be fine. Baked tilapia and a green salad for lunch today. Green monsters/yogurt for breakfast. My snack last night was watermelon. I managed to resist the ice cream sandwiches!

Ok, that's good enough for today. I'll try to get another post in tomorrow. Maybe a picture of the BM dress. I would love to do a post on the Teen Choice Awards fashion. Even though it will be about a week late. Oh well!

Friday Favorites

This post is all food/beverage related. Are you ready?!

I have no photo of the first item because I was too excited to eat it. Not kidding, I got a brain freeze. I made the frozen banana, greek yogurt, fruit thing blended in my trusty Ninja Master Prep Professional...

I put 1/2 of a frozen banana, 3 frozen strawberries and 2 heaping spoonfuls of Oikos vanilla greek yogurt in the smallest container and blended away. I'm sure you've seen this blowing up on Pinterest and everywhere else. I didn't care to look up exact measurements so I kind of just threw it together and it was amazing. If I didn't know better, I would think I was indulging in something that I shouldn't. Try it if you haven't. There is also a Yonanas ice cream maker for this little dessert. It's time to jump on the bandwagon!

I finally tried Naked Juices. I have been wanting to do this for a while but I always chicken out. I was afraid I would hate it. I decided to man up yesterday and I bought 2 of them.

I was pretty sure I would like the mango but I was hesitant with the green machine. I tasted both of them as soon as I got home. Mango is the bomb! I drank it on my to work today. Green machine wasn't bad. I could taste the apple, kiwi and pineapple. You can tell there is more to it but it was doable! I highly recommend trying these if you haven't. I'm weird about textures and flavor combinations so if I don't mind it, you're good! My mom is the pickiest eater on the planet. It's a continuing joke with my siblings and I. She liked the mango and she kind of wrinkled her nose at the green machine. But, she's an oddball!

Alright Ladies, I hope you all have a great weekend! I'm picking up my BM dress and I'm praying, crossing my fingers and knocking on wood that it fits. I have this fear that it's going to be tea length on me when it's supposed to be above the knee. This is what happens when they don't have your size in stock and you have to try on a dress 2 sizes too big. AHHH!!!

I love purple!

Purple is my favorite color. I love it. So you know I was stoked when I picked up these purple shorts at J Crew on the 4th of July. The color isn't the only reason I love them. They are ridiculously comfortable. I need more. I might have to stalk the J Crew Factory online store until I find them on sale again! I went to dinner with the parents for my birthday over the weekend. I'm always cold in restaurants so it was a perfect time to wear my lace sweatshirt!

Tank: PacSun
Shorts: J Crew
Shoes: Sperry
Watch: Invicta

I highly recommend checking these shorts out. They are $34.50 right now and there are still a lot of colors available! I don't know how long the shoes will be on sale at Dillard's but as of right now they are still marked down to $60. Alright Ladies, I hope you have a great Thursday! I'm spending my afternoon in meetings and at the ENT's office. Jealous?! Thought so!

Birthday Presents!

Here is the run down on my birthday presents. Some were gifts some were gifts from me to me (which are sometimes the best gifts).

I can thank the parentals for these! I have liked them for quite some time. I actually went in with the intention of getting a different pair but these were on sale and I'm so happy I chose them!

Bestie knows me so well. My Lilly planner is the same print. I have been refusing to buy a new cell phone cover despite the fact that mine no longer fit. It was silicon and totally stretched out. It constantly fell off but I plan to buy the 5 when it comes out so I don't want to spend money on a new case. Jenn couldn't handle it so she bought me this little beauty!

She also knows how much I liked this sweatshirt from AE. Ladies, the lace front is sheer and completely adorable. I wore it the other day. Expect an OOTD soon.

Now begins the purchases I made for myself. This F21 shirt is great. It hits slightly off the shoulder and the back is all lace. I'm a sucker for anything lace right now.

The back of the dress is solid black. I'm really looking forward to wearing this!

I finally have my first piece of the peplum trend. I'm wearing this on Thursday to a meeting with a black pencil skirt. I'm really excited about it. I found some great Jessica Simpson shoes over the weekend that will look great with this. I guess that means I definitely have to buy them now!

I had a great Express birthday reward card. $40 off. So, I got this shirt after the most annoying experience of my life. I will not even get into it. But, the girl checking me out was nothing short of stupid.

I also found this little crochet gem on the clearance wall. It's crazy comfortable. It was a whopping $11.

I purchased a few cute rings at F21 too. I failed to take pictures of them but I'll be sure to point them out when I wear them. Well there ya have it dolls! I hope you all have a great Wednesday!

5K's and Birthdays

Ladies...I had a crazy busy weekend. Lots of things to discuss. I'll give the run down of my purchases tomorrow. Here's a little preview.

Yes, I'm in love with them and they were on sale. Even better, right?!

Saturday kicked off with a 5K...

Bestie and I pre-race. She won our age group because she's pretty much the bomb. My time was about a minute slower than the last race but this one had several hills and I literally couldn't breathe prior to the race. It was so humid so I took a few puffs of an inhaler and hit the road. It wasn't the prettiest thing but I finished it and I ran more of this race than I did the last one. If you're wondering...Jenn and I are in fact wearing matching shoes. Would you expect anything else?

After the race we got pedicures. I have to say that is the best idea EVER. A massage chair, someone massaging your calves and rubbing those feet that were just on fire...nothing beats that. Plus, I have awesome neon coral/pink toes. Then, we shopped all day and had margaritas and drinks that night. It was a long day but a great day. Sunday, I went with my grandma and mother to find dresses for the wedding. I think that was more exhausting than running a race. But, we have some great options.

Braxton and I are enjoying The Bachelorette Men Tell All while I write this.

He's totally into it! Seriously, is my cat the cutest thing on the planet? Because I'm thinking he is. Who noticed that Ryan got rid of the bump it? I'm kind of sad! I'm definitely going to be checking out Bachelor Pad next week. What can I say, I'm a sucker for this franchise! Have a great Tuesday Dolls! I'll be back tomorrow with my birthday purchases and gifts.

Friday Favorites

Finally...I have some products to share with my Ladies! The wonderful Pink Lou Lou did a post on e.l.f. products a few weeks ago. I have seen these products at Target but was always a little skeptical. I mean lip gloss for $1? Cleansing cloths...$3? This can't be real right? It has to be total crap. This is so not the case ladies. I'm HOOKED!!!

This is the Luscious Liquid Lipstick. I decided on the "Perfect Pink" and it's pretty much just that. I want to get a high gloss lipgloss as well. I'm pretty sure I can spare a $1! They aren't super sticky like some brands I've experienced. Honestly, it reminds me of my Too Faced lipgloss.

Ok, so the Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths are amazeballs. No joke. $3 well spent! I want to get another pack of these to keep in my car so I can take my makeup off before I run. Hopefully, this will prevent it from running down my face!

How many of you use Make Up Forever HD Powder? I'm sure there are a lot of you out there. The large container breaks the bank at $32. Well this e.l.f. powder is huge and it's $6. You read that correctly. $6. I have been using the Make Up Forever for quite some time. I think this is incredibly similar and I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. I still have a travel container of the other (which cost me $16) so I'll use that when I travel but this is the bomb. Get it, seriously!

I have been wanting to try this flat iron spray for a really long time. I have heard some great things. My hair is so curly that it never gets totally straight. It turns under at the ends which is fine. But, ladies this made my hair STRAIGHT! I'm talking stick straight. This has never happened. I don't know that I would do it all the time because it does take a little longer. Let's be real, I get up at the last possible minute in the morning so spending a little extra time to flat iron my hair probably won't happen. I spray it, let it dry then flat iron. I have to section off my hair about 4 or 5 different times to get thru all of it. So, that's a lot of spraying and drying. I definitely recommend it!

I hope you all try some of these products. Have any of you used the e.l.f. brand? Anything else I should be trying? I hope you all have a great weekend! I think there is some boating in my future and maybe some shopping too. I'm attempting another 5k on Saturday. I don't expect to run the entire thing but I hope to beat my last time. It's a gradual process!

Sixteen Candles...

Well, I'm officially a 29 year old and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I haven't actually processed it yet but I'll get back to you on it.

I spoke to my parents and my brother this morning and no one wished me a Happy Birthday. As a matter of fact, it is 11 am and I have yet to hear it from my mom. I would expect my brother to forget. Last year, he texted me at nearly 10 pm (after confirming it with my sister) and wished me a happy 34th birthday. Gotta love little brothers! My dad posted on my FB wall about an hour after I talked to him. So, he's off the hook. But, the woman that gave birth to me is on my list!

I'm totally having a Sixteen Candles moment. Let's just hope Jake Ryan is waiting for me when I get home tonight.

I'll be back tomorrow with some great new purchases!

Well that's kinda gross...

We had a break in the heat yesterday. And by a break I mean it was 94 instead of 104. This still did not make my run the most enjoyable experience. Oh and the sun was ridiculously bright. I was forced to run in my Betsey Johnson wayfarers. Do you have that mental image? Ok, now add this brightly colored ensemble to it.

I'm pretty sure I could glow in the dark in those shorts. I don't hate it though. So, here I am running around the walking track pretty much glowing. You could definitely spot me in the wooded area without a problem. I basically ran back and forth in the shade to keep from passing out or throwing up (yeah I do that when I push myself too hard).

I'm not one of those graceful, non-sweaty, going for an easy 5 mile run kind of runners. As I'm running along, dripping in sweat and wiping my face on my shirt, I thought to myself people must think I'm utterly repulsive. How am I the only one dripping in sweat? It's hot people! Maybe it was the fact that I kept spitting. Yeah that's kind of gross. But, cotton mouth is a bitch. I even stopped at my car to hit my water bottle. As I rinsed my mouth and spit it in the parking lot, I thought...my god I really am disgusting. I personally enjoyed the make-up and tinted moisturizer running down my face. Thank god I had some napkins in my car!

Here's the thing, as a group I think runners can be kind of gross. You do what ya gotta do during a long run. To spare all of the non-runners out there, I'll keep the details to myself. But, I know some of you know just what I'm talking about! We're a different breed of people and I love everything about it!

Sorry for the random post about how disgusting I am when I run. I'm sure many of you have similar thoughts about yourself post workout. Here's to another sweaty disgusting workout today! Happy Tuesday Ladies!

Workout Clothes = Happiness!

I'm back after a crazy week. If I miss a few days over the next few months, don't give up on me! From now until our courses finish in November, I'll be stretched pretty thin. I'm going to try my best though!

Let's get back to my 4th of July shopping trip with Jenn. The outlet mall was good to me. I love buying new workout clothes. Running shorts make me really happy! Especially cute and brightly colored ones. The 11 days of 100 degree weather really put a damper on my running so I'm really looking forward to this break in the heat.

Under Armour had their shorts for $15 as opposed to the Nike Tempo's that were 2 for $40. I enjoyed the color options and prints of the Tempo's but I went for the cheaper ones. The sports bras were $7. Crazy right?! I can't wear any running tank tops which is incredibly annoying. I don't want to risk the tan lines. I have that strapless dress to look forward to in September. So, I got a few more of my favorite UA shirts. They were on the sale rack and cost me a whopping $7 and $11. Love my new Nike running socks. Something you probably don't know about me. I hate shoes. I would wear flip flops year round despite the fact that my closet does not reflect this. I'm picky about my socks. They make me feel claustrophobic.  I cannot stand it if my shoes are tied too tight. These guys are thin and dry fit so I'm excited to try them out.

I finally got some shorts that fit. American Eagle Midi shorts for $30. American Eagle Khaki shorts marked down to $14.99 with 50% off. Nice! I finally got the J Crew purple chinos I have been lusting after! I really want them in Navy and Grey too.

All three of these are from AE. The tanks remind me of the BR one I got a few weeks ago. I'm kind of obsessed with it so I figured I needed a few more! I've already worn both of them and I'm happy with the purchase. The neon strapless top was a last minute pick-up. $10 and it's neon. Done and Done.

So, there are my latest purchases! Did any of you find any great 4th of July deals?

I hope you have a great week! I have my birthday to look forward to and more meetings than I can keep track of!

Ladies, I have been MIA. I will hopefully be back tomorrow with some new purchases! Work is cray cray right now. I sit behind this iMac for hours on end so the thought of putting together a post when I get home is almost unbearable.

Some updates:
1. We got power back on Monday at 4:30. Exactly 3 days after we lost it. So happy to have AC again because these 100 degree days are getting to be too much to handle.
2. I spent the 4th shopping with the bestie. Lots of new running gear was purchased, as well as some adorable shorts and tanks. I finally own a pair of J Crew shorts I have been lusting after!
3. Did you know Chipotle closes on holidays?! Yeah, we learned that the hard way yesterday. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it today to fulfill the still lingering craving.
4. My birthday is NEXT WEEK. 29. AHH. I'm kind of struggling with that a bit. But, I have lots of great coupons and freebies to make it a little easier!
5. Today feels like a Saturday or Sunday and I'm wondering why I'm at work right now.

That's all I have for this Thursday. I hope you all enjoyed the 4th. I've already decided, next year I'm giving myself a long weekend during this week. I have zero desire to work. Have a great day Dolls!

No electricity = a boring weekend

Well, we had a HUGE storm on Friday. I'm pretty sure I drove thru a tornado and I was trembling when I finally made it to Jenn's house. We had plans to see this...

We had to wait out the storm a bit but we still made it to dinner and the movie. It was great! There was an entire row of middle aged women behind us wearing Magic Mike visors, they had fans that were in the shape of a male silhouette (with abs) and whistles. It was a totally packed house and we waited in line - amusement park style - for about 45 minutes. It was sold out and I wasn't about to sit in the front row so we got there early. We pre-ordered our tickets on Monday. Best idea...EVER.

I came home to no electricity. It's been out since 4:30 pm on Friday and has yet to return. Talk about a long and boring weekend! Thankfully, the basement is a little cooler. But, it hit 88 degrees in the house yesterday which resulted in a trip to Sonic for slushies. It's been a long rough weekend and I'm ready for my life to go back to normal. Even the animals are suffering. I have pictures but I can't use my computer so those will wait.

I hope you all had a great weekend! Did any of you see Magic Mike? What about Ted? I want to see that too!
