White and Gold

I finally wore my new BR crocheted top yesterday. I've wanted to wear it for days but I had to steam my white pants and I've been too lazy to do that. Sad, I know.

Top: Banana Republic
Pants: Banana Republic Martin Fit
Shoes: Shoe Carnival
Necklace: Not sure...from a jewelry show
Watch: Invicta
Nail Polish: Butter London - HRH

I wasn't happy with a single picture I took. The lighting was awful and this kept happening....

Someone was curious. There were several with him climbing the mirror. Yes, he's insane but it makes me love him more!

I definitely love the top as much as I thought I would. I kind of want to order it in navy too. The built in tank top is really soft. I was afraid it would be too clingy or form fitting and it's not. It's loose and comfortable. I had to check myself a couple of times because I felt that it was slipping down too far. But, those of you that actually have boobs shouldn't have an issue! :) I highly recommend this top. Also, these pants are maybe one of my absolute favorites. The Martin Fit are great pants. I of course get the petite version.

Alright Ladies, I hope you have a great Thursday. The weekend is almost here. We're having a girl's night out on Friday...dinner and Magic Mike. Sounds like a great weekend, don't ya think?!

Mexican Pizza

My sister told me about this website that she found on Pinterest. After hearing that she made a delicious Mexican pizza, I knew I had to check it out. However, I was a really bad blogger and I did not take a single picture of it. Probably because I was too excited to indulge in this delicious meal!

Here is a picture from the site:

I linked the picture to the original recipe.  I varied mine a little bit. First, I was at Walmart and I could not find any corn tortilla's. Next time, I'll go to a real grocery store. This was just the most convenient at the time. I put a combo of provolone/mozzarella cheese on the bottom, then I added tomatoes (I seeded them while chopping because I knew I didn't need all of that juice everywhere!) and Bush's Black Bean Fiesta beans. Typically, I would use corn, beans, etc. But, I was starving so I went for the easiest option.

I drained most of the juices off of the beans so I wouldn't make anything soggy. That would suck, right?! Then, I sprinkled a little more cheese on top to keep it all together. I added the oregano. I didn't do the olive oil. I think mine only had to cook for about 8 minutes. Probably because of the flour tortilla.

Ladies, this was seriously delicious! I've considered using some refried beans as the "sauce" and maybe adding some hamburger or turkey burger with taco seasoning. A margherita pizza would be delicious too. Basically, the possibilities are endless! I hope that you try this recipe. It is incredibly easy and will definitely be a crowd pleaser. I bought the smaller tortilla shells so it's like a little personal sized pizza. This could be great if you have kids that are picky eaters. Each child could choose their own toppings and make their own pizza.

Have any of you tried any great new recipes lately?

If any of you out there are about to encounter a heat wave like we are, be safe! Today is our last day of somewhat cool weather before we are set to hit 100 degrees tomorrow. And by somewhat cool, I mean we are supposed to hit 90 today. I have to say I really loved the 81 degree day we had on Monday! I'm going to be putting my outdoor running on hold for a few days. It's already hot enough when I try to run at 6 on typical day but this heat wave would be unbearable. Stay cool out there ladies!

Pretty jealous but at least I have new nail polish

My sister and the future BIL got to see The Brothers of the Sun Tour (aka Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and Jake Owen) on Saturday. I'm jealous on so many levels. First, I want to see them on Sunday in Cincinnati but that's not going to happen unless I win tickets from a radio station. I don't win things. I'm pretty sure I've never won anything. I guess I'm due. But, if I'm going to win something for the first time I would rather it be the lottery. Ok, back to the point. Second, the tickets were free. FREE. We aren't talking nose bleeds either. (Did you know this is a stadium tour? They're going to be at the Paul Brown on Sunday. That's the Bengals stadium for those of you that don't know.)

Sister called me last week because she heard they were giving away tickets to Army families. She managed to convince Nik that they needed to go. So, she was up at a 5:30 am on Thursday driving to Nashville. After waiting in line with screaming children for several hours she came home with 2 floor seats. Yes, you read that right FREE FLOOR SEATS. $135 value. She was freaking out.

Crazy, right?! They had 6,000 seats to give out. The generosity still amazes me. I guess if anyone is going to get free seats, it should be the military. We've decided that Kenny and Tim donated them. It just makes it seem that much more special! :) Oh and Faith Hill came out for a surprise performance with Tim. How great is that?!

My sister and Nik were sweating profusely and totally suffering from a swamp ass situation and I was painting my nails.

I'm obsessed with my new Butter London HRH nail polish. The super shiny look is my fav. This looks bluer than it actually is. It's a really great purple/plum color. I cannot wait to try my other color Slapper.

Who watched the Bachelorette last night?? I won't give details...just in case you have it on the dvr! Arie gave me goosebumps. A guy said this, "I wanna date you so hard and marry the f*ck out of you." BEST. QUOTE. EVER. I giggled because it was perfect! Happy Tuesday Dolls! Let's make it a good one.

Shopping with 4 year old twin girls

This could sound like the worst possible thing you've ever heard. But, I was surprised by the girls positive attitudes and all around good behavior. I think it's because they are so unbelievably excited to be in my sister's wedding. They seriously cannot wait. It's adorable! But, we found flower girl dresses so everyone was happy! No one really wanted to spend a fortune on these dresses because let's be real, they are just going to get dirty. It is an outdoor wedding after all. We actually got a great deal on some adorable dresses at JCPenney. They enjoyed the little photo shoot too!

I loved the poofiness of this dress even though the colors didn't totally go. I just had to see them in it.

We have liked this one for a while. It was definitely cute and they liked it better than the first one.

How great is Tristan's pose? Reagan did start smiling eventually!

This is the one we decided on. They started twirling around and smiling from ear to ear when they put it on. It was the cutest thing ever! They are the cutest! Don't mind Reagan's braid, she did not want to sit still. Oh and I know you're loving their gladiator sandals. Because I would definitely want a pair too!

How was every one's weekend? I spent my Saturday late morning/afternoon poolside. I always wear a hat and sunglasses. So, my face got no sun...this is not like the rest of my body. I don't burn. I can't remember the last time I had an actual sunburn. Well, Saturday ruined that streak! My chest is fried. I didn't reapply the sunscreen...mainly because I was engulfed in my book and kind of fell asleep, so I lost track of time. Oops! Everything has turned to a tan except this awesome burn across my chest. The tan line is ridiculous but we'll keep this blog post G rated and I'll refrain from sharing that! I have to say though, spending the day by the pool was exactly what I needed! Let's get through this week rather quickly, how does that sound?! Happy Monday Dolls and Happy Bachelorette Watching!

Friday Favorites...The Blog Edition

I haven't purchased any new products lately so I don't have a lot to blog about. I was brainstorming last night and decided I would revamp the Friday Favorites here on JASTGB (longest acronym ever...quite possibly!). I've decided to feature one or two of my favorite blogs. Now, if I get some great new products that need to be brought to your attention, I'll put this little change on the back burner. This week I'm going to feature a blog I have been reading for quite some time. Basically since I started blogging as well as a new blog. Ladies, I read a lot of blogs and try to stay up to date on all of them so it might take a while to get to yours!

I want you to meet Anna over at Fash Boulevard!

I love Anna's style. She is adorable and witty. Anna has introduced me to so many new brands and she has a serious love for accessories. She isn't afraid to speak her mind about a Fash Fail and rave about her Fash Fave of the week. She is also the guest blogger on Lauren Conrad's blog. You have to check it out! Oh and she recently got married. Her wedding was nothing short of amazing. If you don't follow Anna already, you should probably get on it. She's on Twitter, Instagram and and FB too!

On to a newer blog that I have been loving as of late.

Katie over at Lady Million has recently started blogging. She's a college student with great style and lots of tips! As she develops her blog, she has been posting blog design tips, etc. Such a great idea. Maybe she can save someone a little time and effort! She also does a great segment where she compares designer brand make-up products to pharmacy store products. I have agreed with everything so far! Her love for all things Sephora and Starbucks won me over. Seriously, a girl after my own heart! Oh and she is a Bachelorette fan. Check her out on Twitter and Pinterest!

Alright Dolls, that's all for today! If you know of any other blogs I should feature or that I definitely should be reading, please let me know! I'm always down for checking out something new.

By the way, my BR order came in yesterday. It took a day. I didn't pay the extra for the 3-5 day shipping since I was going to meet the free shipping, which meant 7-9 days. I will never pay for the shipping again! That was so freaking fast! LOVE LOVE LOVE my new items! I can't wait to wear them and give you an OOTD.

Have a great weekend ladies! My mom, grandma and I are taking the twins shopping for Flower Girl dresses! Be prepared for photos on Monday. This could be a real treat. My sister just doesn't have time to make another 5 1/2 hour trip so we're going to have her on standby via iPhone. The last time my grandma took them to look there was a meltdown because the dress everyone liked didn't have a matching American Girl dress. Reagan was not a fan and sobbed. She really just wanted that American Girl dress. Pray for better results!

Email Coupons

I get emails everyday from my favorite retailers. J Crew. Banana Republic. Sephora. Gap. Victoria's Secret. New York and Co. The list goes on and on and on. Yesterday, I got one from BR. There was a secret code that could get me anywhere from 30-50% off of any two items. I learned the hard way that this did not include "new arrivals". I found my 2 items and plugged in my code. I wasn't sold on buying anything until I found out that I was getting 40% off. So, I searched some more and found 2 reasonably priced items. I only spent $50 which I'm cool with. I typically hit up the BR Outlet because let's face it, I like to get some bang for my buck. My choices:

Each photo links back to the website...in case you're interested! Let's hope these items live up to my expectations! I'm pretty excited about the crocheted top. Let's hope it fits me well. BR's petite section totally rocks my world. It's one of my favorites. I go nuts in there. This is why I'm saving up some cash for a massive outlet mall trip. I'm in need of some new work clothes!

Back to the incessant emails. I try not to read them the majority of the time. Mainly because I have to use all of my will power to not go after that awesome skirt on the J Crew sale page. I tend to fail...more times than I like to admit!

Do you get tons of emails from your favorite retailers too? Or did you block them because it was just too much to handle?

Have a great Thursday Dolls! This week is going by rather quickly. I'm ready for the weekend. However, I know I'll be busy. Oh and we got the greatest news at work yesterday. Our university is switching from quarters to semesters next academic year. Because of the transition they are closing the university from Christmas to New Years as a thank you for every one's hard work and patience. With weekends included, I'm getting 8 days off. That just made an Ohio winter a whole lot more bearable!

The Hunger Games

I know I know...I've been living under a rock. How is it possible that I just finished this amazing trilogy of books?! I fought this for quite a while. To be honest, I didn't think I would enjoy them. I know everyone was raving about them but the premise was just too much for me. I couldn't fathom reading a book about kids killing kids. I went to TN Memorial Day Weekend and my sister gave me the first book. I managed to forget my Kindle and had no magazines to read so I was desperate.

I didn't really get into the book until a few days later when I was proctoring. Then, I managed to read the entire first book in 2 days. I was hooked and there was no going back. My cousin was going to lend me her copies of the books but I couldn't wait so I purchased Catching Fire and Mockingjay on my Kindle. I made myself wait until I proctored on Friday to start the second book. I finished it Saturday morning. How can a book be this good?! It's rare that I'm totally enthralled in a book and I can't manage to put it down.

During my conference, I had a few hours of downtime. Some people went whale watching or tried to take in the city a bit. Me...I curled up in my bed and finished Mockingjay. I couldn't help it. I needed to know what happened, now I'm desperately wanting more. I kind of feel like I did when I finished the series Lost. I feel a void in my life!

Now, I'm anxiously waiting for the movie to come out on DVD so I can watch it. I've never been that person that becomes obsessed with a book series but I think this one changed that for me. I have never read Twilight or Harry Potter. I know! Don't give me a grief about it. I just don't care to have something take over my life. That is why I put this off for so long. I might have to be one of the crazy people that lines up when Catching Fire comes out so I can be one of the first people to see it. What has happened to me?!

Have you read The Hunger Games? If not, why haven't you?

A fellow coordinator and I had to discuss the book in detail. We convinced another coordinator to download it on her iPad. She was taking the red-eye home and we told her if she started it should wouldn't sleep. Well I spoke with her yesterday and she is already on book 2. She no longer judges me for skipping the whale watching to read! Happy Wednesday Ladies!

Ohio - Blaine, Washington - Ohio

So here is my trip in photos...

The next picture was taken my first night. I was exhausted after eating dinner and I went to bed at 9 pm. Yes, the sun was still shining!

Our amazing view...and Canada!

The backside of the resort. I should have requested a water view!

Day 2 of the conference OOTD:

Dress: Forever 21, Cardigan: New York and Co, Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless, Watch: Invicta, Necklace: Handmade, Nail Polish: OPI - Cajun Shrimp

Butter London in Seattle Airport...5 of the 7 colors I tested.

I chose Slapper and HRH (Her Royal Highness). I wanted all of them. It was a tough decision! (Ignore my horrible iPhone photo...I was in the airport and had to share my choices with my bestie!)

Braxton was helping me unpack or maybe just getting in the way. See that little bag...well it came with my new carry-on luggage. It snaps into the top of the bag so you can easily grab it before going thru security. One of the greatest selling points of the new luggage!

There ya have it! Let's hope I can get thru today. Yesterday was painful and I actually ended up sleeping in a few hours before going to my meeting at noon. It was definitely necessary. Have a great Tuesday Dolls!

Jetlag is for the birds.

My conference was great. However, I spent 3 days wondering what time it was and I'm pretty sure it's been 3 weeks since I've been in the office. I'm so confused! We got home in the early morning hours on Sunday. So, I spent yesterday in and out of sleep.

I could see Vancouver from my resort. No wonder AT&T asked if I needed to activate my international plan. I'm too lazy to get the pictures ready so I'll get you  those tomorrow. The weather was chilly and rainy. Go figure...it was raining in Washington. Oh and it was still light out at 9:30 pm. The first night I was asleep at 9 pm which was Midnight in Ohio. Also, I totally zoned out at dinner (which began at 8 pm - so late!) and everyone told me to go to bed. My presentation went really well! I'm really happy with everything!

Oh and the Seattle Airport has a Butter London store. I walked out with 8 different color nails and 2 new nail polish colors. (Again, I'll show you tomorrow.) Basically, this post was a total waste because there are no photos. Oh well!

I hope you all had a great weekend and happy Monday!

Friday Favorites

Some Friday Favorites for you! I feel like I haven't done this in ages.

First is my Vera Bradley business card holder. This is currently tucked into my handbag so I have plenty of cards at my disposal during the conference!

I've raved about my Tervis before. But, lately I have been drinking lots of water. I don't think I'm drinking as much as is recommended but I'm trying! I'm up to about three 24 oz glasses a day. Thank god for the Tervis that keeps it so cold for me! I have even cut back dramatically on my coffee intake. I actually prefer water with a little lemon juice in the mornings now. What has happened to me?! Don't get me wrong, I'll be all over a Starbucks if I can but the Keurig hasn't been getting a lot of use lately. Maybe I just need some new flavors to spice things up.

Lastly, I tried on the white Sperry's while at Dillard's over the weekend. I cannot stop thinking about them and how adorable they would look with my watermelon J Crew chinos. I have a problem folks!

Do you have anything that you are loving this week? Any new purchases that have you totally obsessing over them or are you just window shopping and dying for a new pair of shoes like me?

Have a great weekend Dolls! I'm hoping for a safe and painless flight back tomorrow. Lots of stops and my parents are actually meeting me in Chicago and driving me back to Ohio. It's only about a 5 1/2 hour drive and I was going to have to sit in the airport for 7 hours before catching my flight back to Dayton. No thanks! Dad was not ok with that scenario so my parents are taking a weekend trip to Chicago and then driving me back late Saturday night. Ugh! If I didn't have a meeting on Monday, I would be taking it off!

30 by 30 Update

With my 29th birthday a month away, I figured it was time to update you on my 30 by 30 progress. Honestly, I haven't been very focused on it so I need to get busy!!

1. Watch the entire series of Lost. (I've never seen a single episode. I know I know. I felt that I couldn't start in the middle so I always said I would watch them. Now's the time!)
2. Print/organize my photos
3. Run a 5K using the Couch to 5K program (working on it. I didn't run the entire thing last weekend.)
4. Finish a 1/2 marathon

9. Pay off student loans (This might not happen...)

11. Take a road trip with friends (I'm hoping Ren and I can cross this off with some kind of trip we want to take.)

24. Get a facial
25. Eat at The Melting Pot (I've wanted to do this for a very long time) (Maybe for my birthday this year.)
26. Get rid of my clutter
27. Donate clothes to Goodwill, etc. (At least once a year) (Did this once already...I'm about to clean my closet again!)

29. Start a jewelry side project - make an Etsy shop (Planning to open the shop after my sister's wedding when there is more free time.)
30. Renew my passport (I printed the paperwork. It's s step in the right direction!)

Ok, so I have 5/30 completed but I think a few of them will be coming soon! Do any of you have a 30 by 30 list or something similar? I'm going to make a 30 by 30 tab in my header to keep me more accountable. I hope you all are having a great week. I have been up since 3:30 am to get to my flight in time. I'm either flying or currently here until Saturday afternoon.

Not bad...huh?! Gotta love when the department pays for your trip to some place this beautiful!

Dresses and Cover-Ups

My sister and I were shopping at Target a few weeks ago before the shower. We ended up finding our BM shoes there. I of course am wearing 5 inch platform wedges and the other girls are wearing flats. This should even out the height differences! While we were there, I was dying over several dresses and cover-ups. I can't get over how cute their stuff is right now. I thought I'd share some of my favorites for you.

I didn't select any of the high-low or maxi dresses. Mainly because I struggle to pull these trends off despite my intense desire to wear them. This 4'11" frame just ends up looking like a child playing dress up in her mother's clothes!

On to the cover-ups...

This is high-low...but it's made for the beach so I find it acceptable! :)

I saw the last cover-up while in the store and I told my sister I NEEDED it. It's incredibly light weight. I recommend checking them out. Also, their swim section was fantastic. I didn't have the time to try any on but I have a feeling I will be back there soon to check them out again! I highly recommend checking out your nearest Target for great dresses, swimwear/cover-ups and sandals. I'm considering getting my teal sandals in Pink and Nude!

Have a great Wednesday!

Yellow and Grey

I mentioned this outfit last week. It also reminds me of my sister's wedding colors. Our dresses are marigold and we are wearing grey shoes. This outfit has a few pops of color though!

This guy made taking photos really difficult. He was in a snuggling kind of mood. When he's like that, it's hard not hold him. And yes, this is his preferred position.

Shirt: New York and Co. (old)
Cardigan: Jackie Cardigan J Crew
Pants: New York and Co. (old)
Shoes: Target
Scarf: Gift from Poland
Watch: Invicta
Toenail Polish: China Glaze - Pink Voltage

And because I figured you need another picture of this adorable little man. I think he is just the cutest thing ever!

I hope your week is going well! I only have one more working day after today and then I'm heading to Blaine, WA for a work conference. It's my first time attending a conference and we're giving a presentation. I'm a bit nervous but I'm confident about our topic so hopefully it goes smoothly! I'm going to try to write a few posts in advance for Thursday and Friday. I have a 6:30 am flight on Thursday morning. Sounds enjoyable, right?! The reception ends at 10 pm Thursday night which is 1 am Ohio time...I'm hoping I can stay awake that long! Have a great Tuesday!
