Weekend Recovery

I went to OU this past weekend. Jill's brother turned 21 so we were shuffling (aka a bar crawl) to celebrate. We had 20 bars on the list...you do the math. I actually felt great, stuck to my game plan and left Athens sans hangover. But, I haven't had a chance to upload my pictures yet so I'll give you a proper recap soon. Seriously, my bag is still partially packed on my bedroom floor so I'm lacking motivation. Plus, Rennie is visiting this weekend so I need to get things going. AHH!

Instead of unpacking and uploading pictures last night, I did this.

I kind of love this little bugger! He kept standing on my nightstand and attacking my calendar so I forced him to sit with me. He wasn't pleased. He needs to learn to open his mouth and project. Because that little noise is just funny!

Have a great Tuesday ladies!

WIWW - #3 Knits and Scarves

This week's WIWW is following a similar trend...bulky sweaters, dresses and leggings. Wearing flats constantly is making my wardrobe options interesting and/or repetitive. (For those of you new to the blog, I have a foot injury that resulted in my Doctor banning me from wearing heels. Being a short girl, it makes wearing any dress pants impossible. - Back to regular programming.)

 Sweater - American Eagle
Dress - Forever 21 (old)
Leggings - American Eagle
Boots - Gianni Bini
Belt - J Crew (old)

If I'm not wearing a dress/skirt with leggings then I'm wearing a pair of my capris pants with boots. I'm trying to be creative but it's not the easiest thing. I'll be so happy when my new boots arrive. It will totally change things up for me!

Top - New York and Co. (old)
Cardigan - J Crew Jackie
Pants - New York and Co (old)
Boots - Gianni Bini
Scarf - Gift from Poland
Watch - Michael Kors
Bracelets - Handmade

Hopefully next week I'll have some different looks to show you. I'm going back to OU this weekend so I should have some cute comfy outfits to show you. I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy again!

Have a great Wednesday Ladies!

*I need to work on my picture quality. I started taking them in the morning but it's DARK outside so the lighting was horrible. But, it's also dark when I get home. I need to find a better solution!

New Boots Please!

Ladies, Cyber Monday was GOOOOOD to me!! For Real! Can you tell by all of the exclamation points?? If you know me IRL, you know I have been lusting after these fabulous MK boots.

Seriously amazing, right?! I know. The $300 price tag has been holding me back. Do you blame me? So, I have settled for the Bandolino version.

Obvi they aren't quite as cute as the MK's but what do you expect? I love the darker brown in the MK version but these will totally get the job done. Well it just so happens Macy's had BOGO on some of their shoes for Cyber Monday. These babies were one of them. I have also been on the hunt for cute black boots. Enter the Born's

Clearly this is the wrong color but I couldn't get a decent picture of the black ones. Whatevs...click the link and you'll get the real deal!

Here I am with two pairs of boots clocking in at $150 and $149. I don't normally spend that much on my boots. I like to hit up the Dillard's after season sale and get them for like $20. But, I got the two tone boots FREE!!!!! So, really I spent $75 a piece. Still more than I normally do but these are really nice boots. I'm a happy girl! I might see if my mom wants to give me a pair for Christmas because she is struggling to buy for me. I can't wait to get them!

Did any of you find a good Cyber Monday deal?

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

Black Friday Success!!

First, I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving. Mine was amazing. A year ago, my sister had to stay in Tennessee at the very last minute because we found out Nik was coming home from his deployment on Thanksgiving Day. So, she was at the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving and called me in a panic. It was great having them with us this year.

We go to an outlet mall for Black Friday. I'm not trying to deal with Toys R Us or Best Buy. I want to go to the J Crew Factory store and get the the entire store 50% off. That's my idea of a good time! :) We hit up J Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, Nike, Under Armour, Tommy Hilfiger, Old Navy, American Eagle, Finish Line, Carters and I'm sure I'm missing something. My mom, my sister, my bestie Jenn and I go. We stop at Bob Evans before heading home. It's quite the ritual at this point.

Here are the things I purchased for myself.

I'm kind of obsessed with this sweater. I might need another one. This the AE Open Stitch Cable Sweater

This is my third Jackie Cardigan from J Crew. They are my favorite. If you love cardigans as much as I do, I recommend trying this one!

My sister actually bought these for herself but they were too tight so she gave them to me. Score! Thank you Nike outlet. The color didn't photograph well. The shorts are actually more green.

I finally got some AE leggings. I have been dying for the printed ones. (I actually got them on Saturday, AE was still having a 40% off sale at the mall and I had to get them. I also bought the socks and rings on Saturday.) I bought the grey pair and my mom bought me the polka dot pair for Christmas. She also got me a chambray shirt that I wish I had now!

I love these Nike socks. I'm a freak about my running socks. They can't be too thick but they can't move around. These are the perfect combination! AE has some seriously cute socks! Check them out here.

I have been on a mission to find a pair of sweatpants that actually fit me properly. I change for the gym before I leave for work because when the weather gets cold you might have to throw some bows to get a treadmill, so I need to be able to jump right on when I get there. We have a pretty far walk from our building to the employee parking lot and I'm not trying to get hypothermia. I found these in the youth section at Nike. They are a youth large...not even an XL. How sad is that?? And yes, I love them and wish I had gotten them in pink too because I was too comfy to take them off to be photographed. They were only $20.

Do you love the rings as much as I do? They remind me of The Hunger Games! Another AE 40% off purchase!

Jenn recommended the headbands. There is also a black/grey one but it's on my head. :) Jenn said they don't move at all and I'm trusting her judgment. They fit tight and have rubber lining the inside. I wore one all day yesterday and only had to adjust it twice. That's really good for me! Plus they were only $8 so it's worth a shot.

I also finished shopping for my brother, Nik, the twins and their brother. I have already finished shopping for my sister. I have to pick up my parents gifts, a couple of things for Jenn and a finish the gifts for her kids. I'm in really good shape! I'm hoping to have it finished this weekend or next.

For those of you that did not watch "The Game" on Saturday. I think this photo says it all...

The Urban Era has officially begun and it resulted in a 12-0 season. If only some stupid NCAA sanctions hadn't banned them from the Big Ten Championship and a Bowl Game. They won the Leaders Division outright and Urban bought the guys shirts, hats and said he would see to it that they get rings. That's the kind of coach I love. Now I can shift my focus to Basketball! :)

Have a great Monday ladies! This week will be rough. A 5 day week after a 3 day week is PAINFUL! But, I'll be in Athens this weekend with my favorites!

XOXO

An Award!!

Ladies, the very lovely Kristin at w/milk and sugar nominated me for a blogger award! I'm so excited about this! In the past few weeks I have found so many new blogs through the link ups I've been doing. If you want to find some new blogs/new friends, I highly suggest doing a link up!

Here's the deal. I've been nominated for the Liebster Award. "Liebster" means darling or beloved person in German.

The Rules:
1. List 11 facts about yourself.
2. Answer the 11 questions given to you.
3. Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominate for the award.
4. Choose 11 bloggers with 200 or less followers to nominate.
5. Go to each bloggers page and let them know about the award.
-->
11 Facts:
1.     I feel naked without a watch and several rings on my fingers
2.     I battle with my hair nearly every day. If it’s in a ponytail, I didn’t win.
3.     I didn’t wear eyeliner until after college and now I have to wear it.
4.     My cat refuses to sleep with me but he will bang on my door at 3 am for no apparent reason
5.     There are 16 year olds with more mature taste in music. I still love boy bands, T Swift and anything from the 90’s.
6.     My bestie Jenn and I have known each other our entire lives and that is not an exaggeration.
7.     I cry at everything. Commercials, movies, cards, articles, books…you name it, I’ve cried.
8.     I have a really long tongue. It’s kind of creepy.
9.     I eat olives out of the jar. I have to have a jar in my refrigerator at all times.
10.   When I turn on the tv I go straight to Bravo. Give me a RHONJ marathon or some Top Chef and I’m happy girl.
11.   I didn’t learn to manage my hair until I was in college. My hair was a hot mess for the majority of my life.

Kristin's Questions:

-->
1. What is your favorite holiday food?
Definitely pumpkin pie

2. What would your dream house/apartment/condo look like?

who would it be and why?
You’ll think I’m crazy but I would love to spend a day with the Kardashians. I think they are certifiably nuts but I’m intrigued!

4. What is your favorite childhood memory?
There is one memory that always comes to mind this time of the year. I did a post about it last year (here). Please read it to get the full effect! My siblings and I had been begging for a Fisher Price 3-in-1 Tournament Table for YEARS. We thought we were getting it for Christmas because the coupon from the Toys-R-Us Big Book was gone. Christmas came and no tournament table. We were devastated. Later, we went to my aunt’s house to find that they bought it for their daughters and my parents gave them our coupon. We’re still traumatized!

5. Salty, sweet or savory?
Salty…sometimes salty and sweet

Thanksgiving Carry-In

We had a carry-in at work yesterday and it was quite the spread! Considering there were 7 of us, we have more than enough food.

My co-workers are awesome Ladies. We all made so many delicious things. Sherron had her husband come in with a turkey breast and he carved it for us so it was fresh. How amazing!

I made dessert of course. For some reason this is the only picture I took of the dessert. Bad blogger! So, below you can see the pictures from the blogs I got the recipes from. These were Pinterest pins that actually worked out!

The pictures link back to the original recipes.

We're pumpkin lovers! I made pumpkin rolls last week and after one failed attempt to make something else I pinned (I couldn't find the ingredients I needed) I decided to go with this one. It was fairly easy...especially compared to making a pumpkin roll. So delicious too!!

This amazeball dessert might be my new go to carry-in dish. 1. It was so easy and required so few ingredients. 2. It's very light. 3. It was ridiculously good. My mouth is watering thinking about it and I'm already wondering when will be an acceptable time to get another piece.

Lastly, I just have to share. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you've seen this. But, I bought Braxton some bow ties at Target this weekend. He is so sophisticated! :) $4.99 well spent!

Happy Tuesday Ladies! It's already hump day and tomorrow is my Friday. That's a great combination!

XOXO

Friday's Letters - #1

This is my first Friday's Letters! I'm excited to try another link up. Let's dive in...

Dear Braxton, Your snuggles are the best. I don't understand why I have to force you to do it sometimes. Just snuggle with your mother, please! Plus, you are probably the cutest ever. I love your mustache face. It's crazy to think that a year ago I would have NEVER thought of getting a kitten and now I'm the craziest of crazy cat ladies. :)

If you thought I could mention my cat child and not show a picture, you clearly know nothing about me!

Dear Thanksgiving, I'm excited to indulge in your deliciousness. I am looking forward to cooking with my dad and spending time with my family before my mom, Sister, Jenn and I partake in Black Friday insanity at the Outlet Mall.

Dear College Basketball, I'm beyond thrilled about your return to my life. Don't worry college football...you will still be my main focus on Saturday's for several more weeks.

Dear fasciitis, you can go away now. For real...just go away. This wearing flats 24/7 crap is for the birds. I miss my 3 inch heels and long pants. Also, you are putting a damper on my workouts and I'm kind of over you.

Dear Blog World, I am blessed to be able to connect with so many awesome ladies through you. I feel like I make a new friend every time I get a new follower or find a new blog. You're kind of the bomb.

Have a great weekend Ladies! I'm baking for a Thanksgiving carry-in at work on Monday. I'll report back with recipes!!

So Fresh and So Clean

Anna over at Fash Boulevard and Allison (aka PLL) over at Pink Lou Lou participated in the Sleep Naked Twitter party with Swisspers. (I know there were several bloggers participating in the Twitter Party but these are the two that I follow and that I can remember.) If you don't know Swisspers, I guarantee you have seen their products at the drugstore. They make facial cleansing products, etc. I really like their cotton balls. They are large and dense and I don't feel like I need 12 of them to get the job done. PLL brought these little beauties to my attention.

They have little scrubbers on one side and the other side is smooth. I bought them right away and I have to say I will NEVER use anything different. We've discussed my skin care difficulties on more than one occasion but things are cooperating for the time being (knock on wood). I like to try different products (when I know my skin won't totally freak out). I don't use just one thing; I currently have 4 different face washes in my shower. I recently went old school (like back to my college days) and purchased Clean and Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub. It still gets the job done. I like to use an astringent after my shower to make sure I didn't miss anything. I use the scrub side and it seems to work fabulously!

I felt like I had to share this little gem with my Ladies! I still use a cotton ball on my eyes with my fav eye makeup remover because I personally just prefer to use a cotton ball on my eyes.

Have any of you tried Swisspers products? Is there another brand that makes something similar that you really enjoy?

Have a great Thursday Ladies! It's been a strange week. I had Monday off and Tuesday was straight up bizarre. I'm not sure why but I was happy when the day ended! We get a short week next week too! AHHH!! I love the holiday season!

XOXO

P.S. This post isn't sponsored, I just really really like their products! :)

Sephora VIB Event

For my fellow Sephora VIB's, you know that we received a 20% off coupon and I have to say that you can't pass that up. I tried to make my purchases online yesterday but it wasn't taking my code. So, I was forced to go to the store...DARN! I already had a few items in mind. The only thing I was up in the air about was my new fragrance. I had a few ideas but luckily they had some great ladies in there helping with the VIB event and I ended up with something I really like! Let's check out the purchases...

(Left-Right; Top-Bottom)
Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner - Black - My mom and I both use this eyeliner. I tend to run on the oily side and it's the only eyeliner I have found that doesn't end up all over my eyes.
Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray - My curls are not working for me and I have always wanted to try this. I'm afraid my hair will be out of control if I use it, so I haven't taken the plunge...until now. They had a small version of this in the bins near the checkout. These are my weakness! I got the $15 version with 20% off. If I hate it, I'll find someone that likes it and give it to them.
Viva La Juicy - I opted for the 1 oz bottle. I didn't want to spend $70 and risk not liking it when I got home. They have a great touch screen tv-like thing in the fragrance section. You answer 6 questions and it compiles a list of fragrances for you to try based on your answers. It was spot on for me. I think I counted 4 of my previous fragrances in the list. After sampling several different things, I decided on this one. So far, it's a hit! We'll see how I feel as the day progresses. Plus, the packaging is adorable. So much better than packing up my Marc Jacobs Lola. I love the scent but the cap to that bottle is obnoxious!
Philosophy Hope In A Jar - I love love love this moisturizer but it's expensive so I don't normally buy it. However, they had a small sample in the checkout bins. (I told you, they get me EVERY time.) I had to get it. It was nice to have something different.
Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream - I splurged on this eye cream. But, I really like it and I think it's important to take care of your skin. I prefer my eye creams and moisturizers to come in a jar. I feel like you get more bang for your buck. Who knows what's left in those pumps when they "run out".
Nars Bronzing Powder in Irrestiblement - I have been trying to decide what bronzer to get for months. This isn't an exaggeration. Every time I go to Sephora, I come out with 12 different colors on my hands and face. It's not cute. I wanted Laguna. I had actually planned to get this but changed my mind. (If you like that set, they have a small sample of it for $24.) With my lack of a tan, I felt like Laguna would be too dark and I don't think Casino is right for my skin tone. I used it this morning and so far I like it.

Personally, I think Nars and Benefit have some of the best packaging. What can I say, a cute jar with a faux cork top totally won me over! :) I love the feel of Nars compacts. The little bit of grip to them is nice! As I was leaving the store, I saw a set that I'm tempted to get my sister for Christmas. I tend to spend way more on my sister because she is fun to buy for. It's a problem!

Alright Ladies, I hope you all have a great weekend. We have Monday off...perks of working for a University. I need it and am really looking forward to sleeping in!

WIWW - Outfit Inspiration

What I wore Wednesday is actually what I wore Monday but it's too cute not to share. I used this as an inspiration.

I pinned this on Pinterest here. However, the link was broken so I can't give credit to the actual site. I think this girl is adorable and I would love to know where I can find more of her outfits!

Sweater - LC by Lauren Conrad, 3/4 sleeve dress - Forever 21 (old), Leggings - LC by Lauren Conrad (old), Boots - Gianni Bini, Watch - Michael Kors, Nails - Bobbing for Baubles, Necklace - craft show

As you can see, I changed things up a bit. No scarf but I added my gold chain necklace instead. This was so unbelievably comfortable. I need to find more ways to wear things like this. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve. This wearing flats all the time thing might not be so bad!

Please share some of your favorite outfit inspirations! Pinterest is great for things like this!

This is my first time linking up with the pleated poppy for WIWW but you should really check her out!!

LC by Lauren Conrad

I'm a Lauren Conrad fan. I have been since Laguna Beach. (I remember sitting in my bedroom in my apartment in college with my boyfriend and we were trying to figure out if LB was scripted or not. Clearly, we had very deep conversations.) I was on a mission to find some flats/boots without a heel on Sunday. My mom and I went to a small mall nearby (basically the shoe options include: Dillards, Sears, JcPenny, and Journey) and I had no luck. Well, let me take that back. I found a couple of boots that I LOVED LOVED LOVED however they were $150ish. I want to buy Christmas presents so that's not happening. To Kohl's we went. I didn't find any boots buy I did find these Dana Buchman flats.

I wanted them in black but my common shoe size didn't allow it. So the gunmetal will do. Then, this is where LC comes into play.

I'm not sure why they don't show a picture of the back. It has two little cut outs with bows above them. Cute, right?! It also comes in gray

Lastly, we have this adorable little guy, which also comes in black with white hearts. Wait until you see the OOTD I post tomorrow. I stepped outside of my box with this one! I'm obsessed with the comfy factor of this sweater. Also, there are little silver threads running through it. It's kind of perfect.

Both sweaters are on sale right now and if you have Kohl's cash (like I do) you need to go pick some of her sweaters up!

There's a reason for my mission to find flat shoes. I have fasciitis and a possible stress fracture in my left foot. Ladies, this hurts. I have been struggling with it for a few weeks. I thought I needed new running shoes. Nope. I would rather it be the shoes. I'm banned from wearing heels until further notice. This is going to require a lot of creativity with my wardrobe. I have 3 pairs of pants that don't require heels to wear them. All of the others will be dragging on the ground. Capris stuffed into boots and paired with flats as well as skirts and flats are going to be my go to items. I'm still allowed to workout. But, no incline workouts (which are kind of my favorite at the moment). I picked up some killer arch supports at Walmart over the weekend. $20 well spent. I haven't worked out in them yet but I could feel the extra support right away. Now if only I could get them inside of my riding boots. It's not working.

I hope you Ladies have a great week! I'm still struggling with this time change business. It totally messes me up!

XOXO

Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cookies

I did some baking this weekend and boy was it delicious! I pinned these delicious cookies last week and knew I had to make them right away.

Here is the recipe. I made a few modifications. I didn't have any dark brown sugar but I did have quite a bit of regular brown sugar. I had no desire to go to the grocery store for one item so regular brown sugar it is! She discusses using a flat bottom glass covered in the sugar mixture to flatten the cookies. I'm lazy so I didn't do that. I rolled them into a ball, rolled them in the sugar mixture and flattened them in my hands. Before I put them in the oven, I sprinkled the cookies with more of the sugar mixture.

The original version might look prettier but that's fine! This made a lot of cookies. As you can see they vary in size. That wasn't intentional. I was trying to hurry because I was baking during the OSU game and I had to have my back to the tv. You know this doesn't work well for me!

I used my Pampered Chef Small Scoop to dish out the dough. The recipe also states that you should refrigerate the dough for 1 hour. I didn't have the patience for that. So, I left the dough in my KitchenAid metal mixing bowl and put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes. It seemed to work well. Then, I put it in the refrigerator between batches to keep it firm. The KitchenAid never fails me! The bowl definitely kept things cold.

Overall, the cookies were a hit. My mom wanted me to put icing on them. I think they're fine without it!

Have a great Tuesday! I had to be at work at 7:30 am today. I will almost certainly be falling asleep later.

Happy Birthday To My Baby Boy!

Today is Braxton's first birthday. Seriously, where did the time go? Remember when I became a crazy cat lady? He was the cutest little baby. Here are some pictures for you!!

The left was the day I brought him home. I'm sorry but that little mustache face was irresistible.  The picture on the right was last week. This is his favorite spot right now. Straddling the computer chair.

He used to love to get on Cooper's back. Poor Coop! He did it again recently. I cracked up, took a picture then made him get off.

One of his new birthday presents. There is a feather toy that hangs down and he has already figured out how to detach it so mom hid it for the time being. I'm afraid he'll eat. (I mean he did eat my hair ties.) So, he started hiding under the thing like I couldn't see him.

He also got a ball that lights up when he plays with it. It's kind of loud...I didn't think this through.

Lastly....

I think he needs this costume. It's $5 at Target and I think that is $5 well spent if I can get him to wear it long enough for some pictures. He'll probably ignore me for days. He definitely gives me the stink eye when I make him do things he doesn't like.

There ya have it. My baby is 1 and I'm slightly devastated. I miss the fluffy haired baby I brought home but he is pretty awesome and has the greatest personality so I'll keep him!

Have a great weekend ladies!

XOXO
