Friday Favorites!

YAY FOR THE WEEKEND!!! I'm going to be busting my butt to make sure I have everything ready for the new academic year on Monday. But, I'm hoping that makes this day fly by! Plus, I'm heading back to Sephora today. Yes, I know. I was JUST there last Friday. Well my foundation powder was running low. I knew I didn't have much left but then the thing broke earlier this week. So, I MUST get more. I'm having a lovely puberty stricken teenager break-out (again - this has to be hormonal!) and I need to cover this face up. I'll report back on Monday with my purchases. I have a few things for you today:

I bought this with my VS birthday gift card. I think it will look fab in Key West in February!

Covergirl Lash Blast Fushion Waterproof in Very Black. I accidentally bought the waterproof formula. Turns out I like it more than the regular. I tend to be on the "warm" side. So, I need make-up that won't run when I feel like I'm melting. This is perfect! It lengthens and gives volume. I just use my Sephora Waterproof Eye Make-up Remover and it comes right off!

Essie Sand Tropez. I've had this on under my Gold Glitter all week. Not a chip yet! I do think it's time for something brighter though. So, I'll probably be switching it up this weekend. By the way, I'm wearing my sequin birthday tank under a cardi today and it looks fantastic with the glitter nails!

Well Dolls, I hope you have a fabulous weekend. Stay cool, find a pool and relax!

P.S. I had some recipes I wanted to post. I didn't get to them this week so I will definitely make it happen next week!

A love bookstores

I do, I really do. I could spend hours upon hours in a bookstore. Stick me in a Barnes and Noble with an Sbux in hand you might not hear a peep out of me all afternoon. Jenn and I stopped at Books and Co. during our shopping trip last Friday. I picked up 2 new books. Here's the thing....I like to buy books. I have books sitting around that I've never read. Yet, here I am buying more. It is what it is. This is what I came out with.

I love some good Chick Lit. It always makes for an easy read and sometimes that's just what you need!

A review from Amazon: Chick lit doyenne Weiner offers airtight proof that the genre thrives with this clever, sad and sweet turn on Thelma and Louise–style rage. Juggling the politics of broken families, heartbreaking betrayal and shaky self-esteem, two girlhood pals—ugly duckling Addie and wounded beauty Valerie—reconnect after their high school reunion, where Valerie exacts a long-in-coming revenge on smug former beau Dan Swansea. But the payback gets more complicated when police chief Jordan Novick, nursing a broken heart and a crush-at-first-sight with Addie, is called in to investigate Dan's disappearance. Along the way, Val and Addie stage what may be the funniest not-quite-heist ever pulled off as they evade the heat over the missing Dan. The big payoff, of course, is that Addie and Valerie mend the mean-girls misunderstanding that drove them apart as teens and discover the shared pain and loss that bound them as kids and, once again, as adults. This beach read will win readers over with its wit and wisdom.

Everyone I know is reading this book. I've heard nothing but good things. They made it into a movie but after watching the trailer I do not think I could handle watching it. At least not in the theater. I'm really looking forward to starting this book!

Here is a review on Amazon: De Rosnay's U.S. debut fictionalizes the 1942 Paris roundups and deportations, in which thousands of Jewish families were arrested, held at the Vélodrome d'Hiver outside the city, then transported to Auschwitz. Forty-five-year-old Julia Jarmond, American by birth, moved to Paris when she was 20 and is married to the arrogant, unfaithful Bertrand Tézac, with whom she has an 11-year-old daughter. Julia writes for an American magazine and her editor assigns her to cover the 60th anniversary of the Vél' d'Hiv' roundups. Julia soon learns that the apartment she and Bertrand plan to move into was acquired by Bertrand's family when its Jewish occupants were dispossessed and deported 60 years before. She resolves to find out what happened to the former occupants: Wladyslaw and Rywka Starzynski, parents of 10-year-old Sarah and four-year-old Michel. The more Julia discovers—especially about Sarah, the only member of the Starzynski family to survive—the more she uncovers about Bertrand's family, about France and, finally, herself. Already translated into 15 languages, the novel is De Rosnay's 10th (but her first written in English, her first language). It beautifully conveys Julia's conflicting loyalties, and makes Sarah's trials so riveting, her innocence so absorbing, that the book is hard to put down.

Have any of you read anything great lately?? The last great book I read was The Help. I CANNOT wait to see the movie. I've heard that it follows the book perfectly. Which really excites me. I hate when the book gets altered to make a movie. I feel like the movie industry thinks they are making it "better" but in reality they ruin it. My Sister's Keeper, if you need an example. Some of you may not have read the book or refused to see the movie after hearing what they did to it. Don't get me wrong, it was a decent movie. But, if you read the book first, I guarantee you left pissed off. I was able to hear Jodi Picoult speak. She told us about the movie. She was honored that her book was becoming a movie but at the same time she wished they would have left it alone. I'm sure there is the rare occasion that the book doesn't get ruined. But, I tend to have my doubts.

Well that's my rant for the day. Happy Thursday Dolls!

I haven't done any OOTD's lately. So, here's two from this week!

Shirt: Old Navy

(This picture is all kinds of awkward but it's the only side shot that didn't turn out blurry.)

Do we love the bow???

Dress: Forever 21
Watch: Invicta
Bracelets: 2 of my own creations
Shoes: ShoeDazzle
Toenail Polish: OPI Koala Berry

The gold glitter polish on top of Essie Sand Tropez. I got a few compliments on it today!! :) The glitter makes me smile!

There ya have it Dolls! Are you so happy it's Wednesday? The week is half over. It's flying by which is good but then it's bad because I have SO SO SO MUCH to get done before Monday. I'm glad a new academic year only comes around once a year!

P.S. This is my 100th post. How is that possible?!?!

Sephora purchases!

There are quite a few of these. Prepare yourself!

I've mentioned this eye cream before. It's my fav!

My birthday gift. Birthday Cake body wash.

Smashbox Soft Lights in Shimmer.

Only Gold For Me Topcoat

Benefit variety pack. Bene tint, High Beam, Posie tint. I've been wanting to try high beam FOREVER and I've been thinking about trying a cheek tint so I figured this was a good option. Only $15 for all three. You can find this in the little bins in the check out line. So far, I'm LOVING high beam! The tint scares me a little bit. I need to play around with it. I'll keep you posted.

I bought this fan brush to apply my Smashbox Soft Lights.

The battle for clearer skin is an ongoing battle. Currently, I'm having issues again. I thought this was worth a shot. This thing on my chin must have 9 lives. Nothing will kill it! I'm trying to be patient!

The reasons for my purchases...PINK LOU LOU of course! :) I have read a ton about high beam. I saw her post about it and then, I saw her tutorial. It sold me. So, of course I had to get the Smashbox Soft Lights to go over it. I already wear NARS Orgasm Blush so I was well on my way. I didn't have a fan brush which means I had to buy that too! I'm posting an OOTD tomorrow, you'll get to see the fab gold sparkle topcoat. I'm hooked!

Have any of you made any great beauty purchases lately?? Have a fantastic Tuesday Ladies!

Weekend Update

Shopping on Friday was a HUGE success. I'm going to leave my Sephora purchases for tomorrow because it would seriously be photo overload.

I don't know if you ladies wear as many camis as I do but I need to get new ones every few months. The best deal around...FOREVER 21. They are $2.80 a piece. So, I got the staples.

I love love love my aviators but they bend easily so I don't like to put them in my purse. That's where I keep my $6 Forever 21 pair. They get tossed around and beat up and it doesn't matter. I was due for a new pair.

Adorbs new black skirt. It's the softest thing ever. Definitely needed during the heat waves we've been having! It's F21 too. I can't resist a $12 skirt.

I DIED for this. I love anything with polka dots or a bow. This has both. The pale blue brings a new color to my wardrobe! (F21)

The bow that ties at the neck. LOVE. (*Not pictured the white eyelet maxi I NEEDED for Key West. That was until I tried it on and it was see thru. I was totally bummed. But, Jenn and I got a huge laugh at my striped underwear. You could seriously see EVERYTHING. Who would buy that??)

Denim trousers. New York and Co...so comfortable!!

Yogurt Mountain. You have forever changed my life. Jenn and I started out very conservative then it got out of hand. I'm surprised we didn't throw up after our absurd concoctions. Peanut Butter Fingers, I'm looking at you! I understand your obsession!! I need more...right now!

Saturday, we spent the day at my Aunt's pool. We had a meet the family day with my cousin's future in-laws. It was a success! I will have some recipe posts later this week also! The most eventful thing that happened yesterday was my razor breaking. How does that happen?!?!

Oh Well, Happy Monday Dolls! Let's make it a good week!

Random Sunday Post

Well this happened while I was shaving my legs tonight.

I had 1/2 a leg finished. It definitely made things difficult! Do things like this only happen to me?! Looks like I'm buying a new razor tomorrow.

I'll be back tomorrow with some shopping updates.

How excited are we for the weekend?!?! Week 6 of the Clerkship Rotation is always my most hectic. So, I'm SOOOOO grateful the week is over. I'm sitting in a computer lab for 6 hours today in silence. It's a blast. I'll probably need one of these before I go.

Iced Skinny Caramel Macchiato. A.MAZ.ING. I had one yesterday too. My weakness!

I couldn't live without this product. I ALWAYS use it as my base coat for nail polish. I haven't had bare nails in months but I haven't had a chance to do them in the past couple of days so I'm working with the Matte formula.

Lastly, there is no picture for this...A SHOPPING TRIP WITH MY BESTIE. What better way to blow off steam after sitting in a computer lab for hours?! Shopping of course. I have to go to Sephora. (The list is longggg.) I will also be hitting up New York & Co, VS, prob Forever 21 and who knows what else! I'm so excited for a little girl time with Ms. Jenn. We haven't done this since the Spring during our week long sleepover. It's much overdue!

Have a blast this weekend Ladies! I'll post the damage on Monday. There will also be some recipes at some point next week. So, keep an eye out!

I might freak out...maybe.

I'm all out of witty things to say today. Let's blame it on the fact that we have 1 week to get everything ready for the next academic year. 1 WEEK! We aren't ready...I'm stressing. That is also probably why I have a ginormous zit on my chin. For realz...I spent several additional minutes covering it up the past 2 days. The bitch hurts! Grrr. Do any of you have a magic treatment for something like this. I would like it gone ASAP.

I've been making A LOT of lists. My poor planner doesn't know what hit it. As previously mentioned, I keep a separate work planner. No need to clutter the Lilly up with boring work stuff. I leave that for the good things.

I used 4 separate pieces of scrap paper yesterday. Seriously! Granted one of those was my Sephora list for Friday. I thought of the things I needed and had to write them down. But, yeah that's a lot of lists. Thankfully, I have enough sharpies and Papermate colored pens to make everything color coded. Just like my Outlook Calendar.

Yep...that's my life this week. Lots of meetings and exams. Thank god I have no students next week. I get to meet with my lovely coordinators today. We always have fun at our meetings. So, I'm excited to see them. I might be more excited about my cobb salad from Panera. Ok, I'm drooling. Is it noon yet?

Happy Thursday Dolls!

In a fit of nostalgia I've decided to blog about my 2 OU besties today. You've met Rennie. I've talked about Jill a few times. These two are the loves of my life, my partners in crime, my bff's and my fellow L-Cubers.

Side Note: A drunk DB called us lesbians as we were stumbling walking home from the bars the week before classes started Senior year. It evolved into us saying we were lesbians cubed which was then shortened to L-Cubed. For some reason it stuck. Our other friends caught on. Since we were inseparable, I guess it was easier to refer to us at one entity instead of Jill, Lindsey and Rennie. And so, L-Cubed was formed.

First up Jill, I've known her longer. We lived on the same floor Freshman year...MacKinnon 4th Floor!! But, you see...we weren't friends. We chatted occasionally in the bathroom about braces and retainers. I got my braces off Senior year of HS. So, I was still very much in a serious retainer routine during the early years of college. Jill still had her braces at that time. Then, we lived on the same floor Sophomore year...Scott Quad 3rd Floor! Again, we were acquaintances but not besties. By the end of our Junior year were friends. That is about the time her and Rennie became close. (They were both in the Pre-Law Fraternity.) The summer before Senior year set our friendship in motion. The 3 of us are all young. We turned 21 that summer and couldn't wait to get back to Athens and finally enjoy Court St.

Rennie and I met the very first day of class Sophomore year. One of her good friends from home also lived on my floor Freshman year so he introduced us. Ren transferred from Ohio State and apparently Carcy thought we would be fast friends. He's a smart man! We clicked instantly. I remember thinking we are so much alike. It was crazy. We took Human Bio together and then had Sung Ho Kim for a Political Science class. That man was interesting to say the least, so we definitely bonded during that experience. Ren and I still say the relationship between the two of us is the best one we've ever been in.

Senior Year...we look like babies!

Standard NYE pic.

Watching my Reds beat their Indians in Cleveland. If sports won't divide us, I don't know what will!

We've all grown up a lot over the past few years. I couldn't imagine my college experience without them. I know, no matter what, I could call them in the middle of the night and they would rush to be by my side. (Well...that's a little hard for Ren at the moment. Stupid Poland. See you in MONTH love!)

Dolls, I hope you all have ladies like this in your life!

I have Jimmy Buffett songs in my head.

I need a vacation in the worst way. I feel like I have lost all motivation. By vacation, I mean sitting on the beach with Jimmy Buffett playing in the background while I sip some kind of girly drink with an umbrella in it. I need the kind of vacation that requires me to stay in a bikini with a big floppy hat on my head. I need to do nothing. Do any of you ever get in this kind of funk? When you think the only thing that might cure it is to have some sand between your toes?

Sadly, my next vacation is in February. Granted it will be on the beach, with sand in between my toes, cocktails in hand and a big floppy hat. There will also be a wedding. A fabulous wedding on a boat. After the wedding, I plan to spend 4 days doing NOTHING. In my mind, I deserve this. I just wish it wasn't so freaking far away. I feel like I'm wishing my favorite season away so that it will get here sooner. But, god knows I don't want the winter months to return. If I'm in a funk now, how will I feel when it's freezing and there is snow on the ground. The thought of that makes me gag.

So, in my attempt to put a smile on my face. I'm going to share some Mexican paradise pictures with you. These are from the best vacation I have ever been on. One of them is the desktop picture on my work computer.

Swim up bar. AMAZEBALLS. See that elevated area right by the edge of the pool (it's trimmed in yellow)? It was about a 1 foot under water, so you could just lay there all day long.

Gorgeous, right??

More pools.

I stare at this everyday at work.

All I want is to be sitting under one of these tiki huts.

We stayed at the Grand Sirenis Hotel in the Riveria Maya, Mexico. I highly recommend it. The spa was amazing too!!

What was your favorite vacation? Do you sit and day dream about it sometimes? I do!!

Cocktails and Drag Queens

My birthday celebration consisted of lots of cocktails, gay bars, drag queens, the BEST homemade chicken enchilada I have ever had and piggy back rides. All and All it was a successful evening. There are some pictures on my camera. I'm not sure of the status of them because I noticed the camera was on the wrong setting. I think they are quite blurry but we'll see for sure when I upload them tonight.

At one point in the evening we were in a gay country western bar (who know it existed?!?!) and Jill made the comment, "I'm 1 of 2 females in this bar." She looks at me and says, "You're the other one." What a fantastic evening.

I have one picture for you thanks to my dear friend Brandon.

Yes, that's me and VERY tall drag queen.

Well, here's to hoping that 28 is a fabulous year!! Dolls, I hope you all had a great weekend!

Friday Favorites!

Yay..It's Friday!!! I'll be meeting some of my OU friends in Cincinnati this weekend to celebrate. Unfortunately, one of my friends has a trial starting Monday and has to work thru the weekend in order to prepare. Booo to the life of a lawyer. I mean I did see him 2 weeks ago so I guess it's ok. I'm sure I'll have a blast with the rest of the OU crew and a few hometown friends as well! On to my favorites!

The bestie got me all of these fabulous things for my birthday! New Lilly planner, Safari OPI collection from Sephora, the ADORABLE Ohio Starbucks mug and of course some skinny cow treats. She knows me so well!

I had this yummy guy earlier this week and I'm officially obsessed. It was unbelievably delicious and very filling. YUM!! By the way, I found it in the organic section at Kroger.

I should have NEVER parked at the Macy's entrance to the mall. You are practically forced to walk thru the shoe department and the HUGE Coach display. Of course, the Sperry's are right on the corner and these caught my eye. I'm trying to convince my Mom to buy them for me for my birthday. We'll see how that goes. I might just have to break down and by them myself! I'm in Love!!

Well Ladies, that's all I have! Enjoy your weekend and I'll report back on Monday about all of my birthday fun!

After work shopping trip

I stopped by the mall on my way home last night. I had a birthday vip card for Express so I took the opportunity to use it before my birthday celebration this weekend. Ya know I love any reason to buy a new outfit! Here are my purchases:

These little guys were on the sale rack. I love that. Back story: I have a pair of khaki and watermelon JCrew chino shorts. I wear the crap out of the watermelon ones. I put the khaki on a few weeks ago and they were HUGE. Like even with a belt, they were big. I have no idea what happened. But, they look pretty bad so I was excited to find these for $17.99.

MOST. COMFORTABLE. SHORTS. EVER. I'm in love. I'm wearing them Saturday night. Oh and they were 40% off.

This gorgeous tank was on sale too! I'm wearing it with the fab black shorts on Saturday. No worries, I'll take pictures!

Here's the detail of the tank.

I'm so excited about this clutch. I don't have a black clutch so I needed it! ;) This is what it looks like folded.

It has a magnet and opens up to be this big. How great is that??

Look at all of that room!! (Ignore the junk all over my bed.)

ShoeDazzle delivered these beauties today. I'm pretty excited. They look great with the black shorts. However, I don't think they will be broken in by Saturday night. I'll prob stick with the nude pumps.

Bow detail. Adorbs, right?!?!

I just realized I didn't buy a single thing with color. So unlike me. But, I think these could be some new staples!! I can't wait to wear everything.

I have a vaca day today. Too bad I'm busy all day and don't get to relax. C'est la vie! Happy Thursday Dolls!
