4th of July

This weekend is the 4th of July! This is one of my favorite holidays. I think it's because I know my birthday is a week away. It has nothing to do with the food, drinks, fireworks and general merriment that come along with such a FABULOUS holiday.

The gated community (I use that term VERY loosely) that I live in has a great fireworks show. I prefer to watch them from the lake but we can see most of the show from the backyard (which is where I'll probably be). After last weekend's shenanigans I doubt I can muster up the nerve to drink anything of the alcoholic nature. But, I'm sure I'll sit around eating food from the grill and various salads (potato, pasta, macaroni, lettuce)...ya know, the usual.

I'm hoping to keep this weekend low key and uneventful. I don't need anything like last year. Let's just say there was Four Loko involved and it DID NOT end well. There is a reason they banned that stuff and I FULLY support that decision. Good grief...I'm surprised we survived.

I'm looking forward to a paid holiday on Monday. I plan to spend Sunday and Monday in a bikini, in the back yard or at a pool. This girl has yet to put on a bikini this summer. That is unheard of! Hopefully, a little fun in the sun will get me out of my funk. I think I've run myself into the ground. I've been on the go too long and it's taking a toll. So, a weekend of fun and relaxation is just what the doctor ordered.

The toughest question I will ask myself this weekend will be: black bikini, white and yellow polka dot bikini, pink and brown bikini or 80's print bikini?!

What is your favorite thing about 4th of July?? The fireworks, the food, the parties, the vacation day....
Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy it!

What's a date?

I was listening to the radio on my way to work yesterday. One of the stations I listen to is actually based out of New York. I find them hilarious. Typically, I'm laughing on my way to work. Yesterday, was no exception. The points they brought up were pretty right on, in my opinion. So, I thought I would share this with all of you.

The topic was "dating" in your 20's or the lack there of. One of their interns was talking about how people don't really date anymore. She said, she feels like everyone meets up as a group and then just goes home with each other at night. She wants a guy that wants to take her on a date. So, people were calling in and discussing the topic. One of the guys on the show is 26 and he said he would love to take girls on dates but some of them don't want anything to do with it.

After further discussion, they came to the conclusion that this text based/social media world we live in makes doing things face to face or one on one more difficult. You can have a relationship with someone without ever seeing them. I think this is so true. I have certain people in my life that I text on a regular basis. But, we never see each other. Some of that could be because of distance and it's hard to see one another. But, if you build a relationship with someone via text or FB and are then thrown into a face to face situation, would you feel uncomfortable? Is it going to be awkward? According to the listeners, it is awkward. But, you need to power through it.

Personally, I want to go on dates. But, people do tend to just hang out. It's so strange. Plus, where do people in their 20's meet other people? In bars, right?! So, everyone gets a little too much liquid courage and then you kind of throw everything out the window. It's a strange world we live in! Yesterday, Julie over at Peanut Butter Fingers did a post about chivalry. It was fitting because I was thinking about the same things. We are brought up to be strong independent women. But, I would love it if a guy opened my door for me and offered to carry my bags. I think it's sweet and it shows that he cares. I don't think I would stand at the car door and refuse to get in until he opened it but if he beat me to the car and opened the door, it would make me smile!

A guy made a valid point, a date doesn't have to be a formal setting with dinner and a movie. A date can be spending time with each other. Even if that means running errands or going for a walk or hike. You don't have to put pressure on a date to make it some big to-do. I wouldn't hate the big to-do but I would be just as happy with the walk and ice cream.

Is chivalry dead? Do we have an altered perception of what dating really is? Should we all take note of our grandparents and the simpleness of life in the 50's, when you went the soda shop and split a milkshake?

I don't really know, but I think it's something we could think about! Happy Wednesday Dolls!

I forgot that I snapped a couple quick pics of my outfit before I left Saturday night.

Cardigan: New York & Co
Tank: Target
Jeans: American Eagle Jeggings
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Forever 21
Watch: Invicta Angel

Now on to my annoyance. I'm sitting there trying to watch The Bachelorette. And I'm so looking forward to seeing the JP date. Then, it happens...a stupid severe weather warning that cuts regularly scheduled programming. I'm stuck watching the same idiot repeat himself for 20 minutes. Then, he has the nerve to say some of the cities in the line of the storm are probably out of the viewing area. WHAT?!?!?! I'm missing the JP date so you can tell us about a tornado warning that may or may not be seen by the people it is effecting. I.Will.Kill.You. It comes back as JP and Ashley are hugging and the date is over. SO PISSED.

Then, Mickey left. Ugh. I liked him. But, I say more power to you. If you feel like you can't stick by her after that then you should leave. Did she honestly think the guys would be all smiles and rainbows about her "falling for Bentley" comment and having him on her mind for all of that time only to bring him back and finally get the "period" she needed for closure? Come on, Ashley. If Brad did that to her she would have been pissed. She might be the whiniest bachelorette of all time. Man up. Put on your big girl pants. I think she needs to pick her words better. She keeps saying I didn't say it right. When you decided to tell the guys about Bentley's return, you probably should have planned a better speech. Because any person in their right mind would feel like they were second best after hearing something like that. Of course they're mad. I would be too!

I'll continue to watch. I can't turn it off. I have to see what happens. I'm basically hoping she doesn't pick JP because I want him to be the next bachelor. To quote my new soulmate Crystal, he's a smokeshow. Yum!

Cleveland...you got the best of me this time.

If this weekend were a sporting event, Cleveland beat me 2-0. That city took advantage of a tiny girl that for some reason thought she was 21 and could party like a college kid. THIS IS SO NOT THE CASE. I was in the fetal position on Jill's couch until 5 pm Saturday. I'm not exaggerating. I woke up stumbling drunk. How is this possible?! I put my big girl pants on and headed out with Nick. I mean that is the reason I made the trip in the first place. Should I be concerned that my hands were trembling at 7 pm? Probably so, but in true OU fashion, Nick told me the only cure for it was to drink some more. I had tried everything else, so why not?! I see how people become alcoholics...the trembling stopped and I began to feel like myself again.

We then went on to a house party, where I found my fashion soulmate/new bff Crystal. It's a match made in lipgloss wearing, Michael Kors loving, hautelook.com shopping heaven. Too bad we live on opposite sides of the state. This made Nick extremely uncomfortable. But, with their encouragement I started playing flip cup for the first time in my life. I know, I know...how did she go to college and NEVER play flip cup?? Well, I don't drink beer. I refuse. I HATE it. So, flip cup was never something I did. I smuggled my own booze into parties. Thank god for a large handbag! I played with mixed drinks on Saturday night. Which lead to my demise. However, I FREAKING DOMINATED THAT TABLE. I believe my team was quite proud.

So, here I am...back at work and still feeling the effects of a FANTASTIC weekend. I'm slow moving today. But, I shall power through. Oh and I have one picture from this weekend and it's on my phone. That's right, I was too inebriated to even get out my camera. Here it is....

We attempted to play Partini on Friday night. Jank is acting out crocodile hunter. He's moving his arms so fast that they are transparent. This game was a disaster so we thought Trivial Pursuit was a good option. Jank and I were killing all of the regular questions but couldn't get a pie piece if our lives depended on it.

Dear Cleveland,
I'll be back in August. I have a feeling it will get sloppy but I'm prepared this time. You will not win again.

Well Dolls, I hope your weekend was as eventful as mine!

Friday Favorites!

I'm leaving today for Cleveland! It's only fitting that my Friday Favorites consists of my favorite people. There is one person that will be greatly missed this weekend. You might  remember her...

Oh Best Friend...will Poland give you back to us, Please?!?!?

This guy just returned from serving our country. I guess the least I could do is make the 3 1/2 hour trip to see him.  (This picture and the one below are from our 5 year reunion at OU last summer. The day is a bit blurry and I kind of miss my long hair.)

I'll be taking over this lovely lady's guest bedroom. There are actually good pics of the two of us but this just make me smile! I could have cropped B out but I feel like he adds to the picture!

Then, there's this guy and his luscious John Stamos-esque locks. I can't wait to hear Nick say "Have Mercy" for the first of approximately 50 times over the course of 2 days.

Alright Dolls, I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Mine will be busy and definitely not dull. How could it be with this group?!

Morning Star

I'm totally addicted to Morning Star Farms products. I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything I have tried.

I can't get enough of these breakfast sandwiches!!

Yesterday, I tried the Chicken Patty for the first time. OMG. It.is.DELICIOUS. How do they make veggies taste like chicken?? I will never know! But, they do a damn good job. My mouth is watering as I write this.

I made a little sandwich on an Everything Bagel Thin. The downfall of the bagel (in my opinion) is it is just too much bread. However, I do love a good Asiago Cheese Bagel from Panera. So, this bagel thin totally rocked my world. I just melted a little cheese on it with some mustard. I was starving yesterday and managed to eat all of my veggies 2 hours before my lunch time. Thankfully, I had some trail mix in my office to help hold me off until I got home!

I recommend trying some Morning Star products. You won't be disappointed. Prom Prom!!

Hodge Podge

This is a little bit of everything. A few OOTD's and some pics from the Reunion and Graduation Party. Now that I have my computer back, I can actually upload these things!

Just a couple pictures from the Reunion.

That was basically my weekend in a nutshell!! Happy Wednesday Dolls!

I Love Buying Gifts...for MYSELF!

I love to buy a gift for myself. A little retail therapy never hurt anyone. I have been dying over a gold Michael Kors watch but with several weddings looming next year and my need to buy BM dresses and gifts, I've decided spending that much money on a watch isn't necessary. Granted, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want it. But, I thought maybe I would look for a cheaper option to hold me over. I have a great watch that I adore. It's blingy and it sparkles. I've had it 3 years and it still looks new but I wear it everyday and I want to be able to change it up a bit.

A few weeks ago, I was browsing hautelook.com. (I'm obsessed!!) I saw that there was going to be a watch sale. Maybe, just maybe my MK watch would be on there. I was hoping but it was not the case. (There is also a Marc Jacobs I'm lusting after...I have a problem.) There were some FAB Invicta watches though. Let me tell you, it was great deal. I couldn't pass it up. Reg - $400, I paid - $65. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!

I snatched this little guy so fast!

It's the perfect Summer watch. Plus, I get my gold fix...at least for the time being. There were also a pair of Ray Bans I had my eye on but I used my strength and resisted the urge to buy both.

Have any of you bought something for yourself lately??

P.S. I got my computer back last night so I hope to get some pictures uploaded tonight. We shall see how that goes!

I'm officially feeling old

Well the reunion was a success. We had a pretty good turn out and I had a few to many margs. Oh and my computer kind of crashed on Friday. How lovely, right?!? I should get it back today. So, the only pictures I have from the reunion are the ones I took on the trusty iPhone, one before I left and one of our mango margaritas. Very exciting I know! There are a few from the grad party but I leave that for tomorrow.

Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Target

Delicious, right?! Nice call Allie!

That's all for now Ladies!!

Friday Favorites!

I took today off so I could get ready for the Reunion tonight. I'm so glad it is finally here. I'll be happy when it's over and I can stop worrying about all of the details. I'll be sure to post pics of my dress, etc on Monday! On to my Friday Favorites!

These are like fruit snacks for grown ups. I bought them at Kroger and I'm officially obsessed! INCREDIBLY delicious. The sweetness definitely fills that late afternoon sugar craving I've been getting lately! Thank you Stretch Island Fruit Co. you're the bomb! I want to try all of the flavors. I've only had strawberry and raspberry. I tend to stick to my go to flavors when trying something new. Then, I branch out after I know I like it!

I have a salad EVERYDAY for lunch. Ok, that's not totally true...occasionally I go downstairs and get Subway. But, the majority of the week I'm eating a salad and this dressing is AMAZEBALLS. It's thicker than normal Italian dressing (I learned the hard way when my bottle got clogged and exploded all over my desk on Wednesday.) It definitely helps add a little something to my salad.

Jenn got me this little beauty for my birthday last year. It's a great wallet! Vera Bradley knows what's up! The print is Very Berry Paisley. It keeps my life organized. It's public knowledge that I'm a little bit OCD so having a place for every card / cash / change is important! It's pretty thin too so it doesn't take up a ton of room in my handbag. My sister and I each have one and we bought my mom one for Christmas last year. Her wallet was ATROCIOUS. No joke the woman would have cash just sticking out the top of it. Money was shoved in any open place she could find. I had a small panic attack and heart palpitations every time I had to see it. Thankfully, Ms. Bradley saved the day and mom has been in good shape ever since!

HAPPY WEEKEND DOLLS! I hope you have a ball! I'm going to spend the weekend feeling old with my 10 year high school reunion and my brother and sister's graduation party. Oh My!

A Pop Of Color

I'm really craving a new brightly colored summer bag. I have ideas and inspirations. Most of them are out of my price range but I figured I would show you what I like. Maybe I can find a look for less version of one of these to fight my craving without killing my wallet!

If I had to pick one...it would be #5. Of course it's the most expensive. Ugh!!

Today's my FRIDAY!! So, happy long weekend to me!

Who Does That?

I've mentioned that my allergies are awful right now. I can't remember the last time I experienced an allergy season this bad. To say my Singulair isn't cutting it would be an understatement. Monday night I called the nurse I used to work with and she told me to take some Zyrtec along with the Singulair. I'll do anything at this point. Yesterday I did just that. I made sure not to take them at the same time and I was sure that I had eaten before I took the Zyrtec. (Side Note: Zyrtec never makes me drowsy. I function perfectly fine on it.)

I fell asleep writing. SERIOUSLY?!?!?! I mean I knew I was struggling. I'm completely worn out from the constant go-go-go I've been doing lately. But, everyone is busy so that's not really a good excuse. As you can see, my writing wasn't looking great prior to the falling asleep. That's because my head kept bobbing. Ugh! By the way, that word is organization.

Now I have the dilemma of...do I suffer through the next several months or do I risk taking more allergy pills while working?! The jury is still out on that one. Maybe if I get some rest and stop running on fumes I won't fall asleep at my desk on a Tuesday when nearly all of the faculty are here and walking past my office.

I warned my co-workers, if you see me asleep at  my desk, PLEASE wake me up! I have no control over this! Thankfully, I only dosed off for a few seconds.

Oh My! Well, Happy Wednesday Ladies! Thank God tomorrow is my Friday!

OOTD's and a little shopping

I wore this to work on Thursday of last week. Yes, I'm pretty behind schedule!

Tank: Target
Cardigan: Banana Republic
Pants: New York and Co
Shoes: Gianni Bini
Necklace: Forever 21

Friday, I spent the day in a computer lab proctoring exams so I got to dress casually. I love it! I go for comfort on those days. I would prefer sweatpants or yoga pants but I think they might frown upon that!

Please ignore my wrinkled shirt. My sister borrowed my steamer to do her graduation gown and I was left with a wrinkly shirt.

Tank: Banana Republic
Cardigan: JCrew
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes: ShoeDazzle (basically a wine of the month club for shoes)

Now on to my purchases. Jenn and I got stuck in Target for about an hour and a half due to the monsoon outside. I came out with 2 new pairs of shoes.

These actually came from the kids section. They are so cute and were only $13.50. They were far cuter than any of their adult sized counterparts. So, I hit the jackpot when I found a size 4. Jenn got them in silver. We were incredibly happy!

I've seen these shoes in several different Target stores but they NEVER had my size. I've been looking for the perfect nude pumps for MONTHS. This is not an exaggeration. I even had a pair but sent them back because they were too tall and I thought I looked like a stripper. Finally, I have a pair that I like. They're the perfect color, a great height, comfortable and they were only $30!! What a great shopping trip!

We even managed to find Jenn a great Reunion dress. It's this Friday...I'm ready for it be over! I'm hoping it's a good time. Mexican food, margs and old friends. I think it should be fine!

Weekend Re-Cap

Well, it's official. We have another Bobcat Alum in the family. I still can't really believe it. I have some OOTD's to post also but that will probably be tomorrow because I think you're about to get photo overload!

Ahh...my happy place!

Before the students filled all of those seats

After the students arrived

Not the best picture but there was a lot of zooming going on.

President McDavis

This is for my sister. Prez lookin like a pimp in his big chair and bling around his neck!

Parents and sister

 Bobcat Alums

Sister at College Gate. There is a pic of the two of us. But, it's on my mom's camera. Boo.

Porter Hall...my home away from home during my OU days.

Bicennetenial Park

This is how I spent the drive home.

We had a great day in Athens. I may have had a relatively strong drink with dinner and that might have contributed to my nice little nap on the way home. So proud of my sister and the rest of Ohio University's Class of 2011.

Be prepared for some OOTD's and a little shopping recap tomorrow!
